I don't have a dog in this fight, and I chose not to write subsidy business. But I know several folks here did go that route and I hope they make a lot of money.
It is not for you or me to decide if it is worth it or not.
I also chose not to write aca business. I am to afraid that the people that realize they cannot afford it will fall off and the chargebacks will be to big to make up again unless you hustle during the next enrollment.
I do think however, with the above issue we are going to see a lot of agents leave that line of work.
If they would pay as earned I would be happy to assist.
I wrote mostly off exchange or group insurance, but those that focused on exchange business and worked that market hard came out being winners. It's not for a newbie, or for those who don't have enough capital to weather the famine before commissions roll in. But for who prepared and did a quality job, it was a windfall. And they deserve every bit of their commission.
