25 Mile Radius

so, is it YOU or them that would be servicing these clients? If it's not them they should be concerned about it! If you are willing to get the business, knowing there will need to be service appointments as well, then I am not understanding what their problem is! If they aren't having to go out there, then it shouldn't be a big deal.

They are limiting your success and your results! I would say it's time to move on!

Just got done talking with the Manager and Owner and they said no keep it in the 25 mile radius. Reasoning they said again is " you can't service the clients as well because they are too far," They said there is plenty of business near the office. Also this is the way they have done business for 40 years but i also they need business badly one of the other sale reps said. Thanks again everyone! They said we are happy with the leads you are bringing in closing but those businesses are just too far.

25 miles isn't the same everywhere you go......

You're right...sometimes it's 40.23 kilometers.
I pretty sure 25 miles is 25 miles no matter where you are. How long it take to travel that 25 miles is another story.

No I service the accounts. Not a lot of service work for Group Health or Business. Most of the time it's just faxing, emailing or talking on the phone with the client. Like I said the owner is his 80's and doesn't know how to email, fax or use voice mail. He has the other employees do that for him.

Well...you can move on to someplace that is living/doing business in this century...or you can wait it out because he's not going to be around forever.

Considering the owner is in his 80"s do they have a succession plan? What happens to your book of business if the company shuts it's doors or changes ownership? The bottom line is the owner dictates.

Thanks for the replies. There are no Territories that we are assigned. There two other agents in the office we all sell business and some Group Health Insurance. He says we can't service them well because they are too far? The owner of the company is in his 80's so they have the old school mind I guess. So I am not sure what to do? I wrote several nice cases about 40 miles away around $10,000 in premium each for commercial. I am just upset that they are limiting the radius where I can sell. He said no more business over 25 miles. Please help!

Look for another agency.

If anyone is going to stand in your way of making money, regardless of the excuse, time to move on!

Unless they are wiping your ass and paying your bills of course!

If you need to be within arms length to service your clients then you must be doing something wrong.
One of the companies I'm an independent retirement planner for has me going up to 50 miles and my brother about 150 miles. My brother always tells the clients when it comes up that he is in the area 2x a week and is a phone call away. If they needed to speak to him more than 2x a year or so then he isn't doing his job right. It's not like he is their broker.
