I got stopped driving a Porsche Carrera about 6 years ago and the cops wanted to search my car and I said no. They called in a dog and the dog hit on something right away. They then told me they had the right to search because of the hit by the dogs. After 45 minutes they found nothing and had to let me go. I found out later I was set up by a guy who was pissed because I got hired for a management position instead of him.
The cops were told that I was dealing drugs and would have a lot in my car on that day. I have learned if they want to search my car, they are going to. In this case I didn't think I had anything to hide. Sometimes I am not for sure!
In fact about 3 days after the search when I was questioning the police about them having the right to search me I was told the trainer of the dogs can make them hit anytime they want to. False hits are very common.
