ADB/75 Year Old Grandmother

I write on children, younger folks,if they work in a dangerous environment.

Saw one added on a 76 year old country grandma that sticks around her house with a chihuahua.

Written by a North American Senior Benefits agent, seemed unnecessary, just an add on for about $5 a month.

Ends at age 80,right ?

Don't you know most accidents happen at home? How do you think Goillini got here? :twitchy:

If you have your choice to include these riders you truly don't? If you can pay for your gas a week with 1-2 grandchild apps with little extra work, you don't?

If they are willing to pay more then I'm going to sell them more real insurance. If someone truly wants AD&D I'll help them get on line and sign up with Gerber's stand alone plan. I've only done that once.

Jd you don't even use them with its an option? I can understand if its not an option, not doing it but its such an easy value add with companies like Transamerica, Foresters, etc.

I don't write Foresters and I don't add it with Trans. As I said, if they are willing to pay more then I think it should be more life insurance.

And I sell against gimmicks all the time. I'm not about to sell against a gimmick and then turn around and sell them one.

Define gimmick. I think in the rather violent urban areas I sell it they don't think its a gimmick.

I'm not telling you want to do. I'm telling you what I do. I don't do child riders. If they want insurance on a child then I will write insurance on the child.

What's a gimmick to me may not be to you?

I'm not saying you should or should not sell adb at that age. I don't push it for seniors, since they're statistically much less likely to die by accident than younger ages. However, I do offer it if it's an option, as I do any available riders. "Double indemnity" is part of the cultural expectation surrounding life insurance for many of our clients.

Early in my career I had a client whose 80 year old mother was killed in a traffic accident. She was a little underinsured (with another company). If she'd had adb there would've been $ left over! That made an impression and has always stuck with me.

On a stand alone ADD plan, isn't that sold under a health license ?
