I always explain to the client how it works and ask if they want it. I don't try to "sell" the ADD . I have more clients that I would not have expected tell me they want it . Most don't .
I had a 65 year old lady, just last week, tell me "my neighbors trailer was broken into and the way things are going now and days you never know !" So I wrote it for her - it was an extra $4 or something .
I see ,unfortunately, a lot of LH and AIL policies with a ton of it tacked on... I've come across a few clients who thought they had "x" amount of whole life insurance and when we get down to it half of it is AD .

You both are correct that I should give them the choice. I normally do not even offer it unless asked. We get old and set in one way of doing things sometimes.

She said what do you think? I said, well, it's $47.50/mo for $10K and $50.40/mo to add the $10K AD&D. If you are going to spend $50/mo then I would just make it $10, 569 face for the $50.
