Americo Marketing

That's kind of ridiculous since we were just with that client getting everything from their social security number to whatever their medical condition are to their bank account information. I understand the law is what it is but not being allowed to know what the reason for the decline was after all the other things we were voluntarily told is ridiculous.

I understand the frustration. Sounds like the client didn't tell you everything.

I just submitted my first Americo apps. Two were clean as can be and from the time I emailed to date of issue was over a week. That process seems pretty long. Another guy was flat out declined and the only thing they will tell me is a drug on MIB. They won't tell me what it is or why. Is this normal experiences with Americo!

I guarantee their RX's would have indicated the health issue. It is more important to get them to go get the RX's and discover what they are being treated for than asking the health questions from the application. Prescriptions are the first thing I ask about.

Yep, me too! I learned that a long time ago. I ask "what medicines do you take everyday?" before I ask any health questions.

The medicines will tell me what questions I need to focus on about their health. It will also tell me which companies I need to be looking at for the application.

As for Americo. They do have a pretty good Rx book that will tell you which plan they qualify for or don't qualify for with them. It also tells you what the meds are for. You can order the book from Americo if you are contracted with them.

It is nice that you have built enough rapport with the underwriter that he/she would risk their job to satisfy your curiosity. That "hint" would be a HIPPA violation if they were ever reported for it.. They only proper answer for them to give when you ask is, "I am sorry but due to HIPPA regulations, I cannot provide you with that information."

My main company will tell me 90% of the time but my agency sends a lot of business.

Not only that but one of my agents had a client get counter offered on a graded when we questioned why they told me then he went to the clients house called the underwriter back and they talked directly to the client and decided to go ahead and issue it full Benefit.

Apparently they aren't telling "everything" if the MIB or Script Check indicate information other than what the client provided on teh application.

Seriously man, I guess you have never built a relationship with an underwriter or someone in new business? Sounds like you're just not sending up enough business to build that kind of relationship.... or maybe you just never asked for a little more info about a client?

You'd be surprised what people will tell you if you just ask the right way!
Over the years I developed that kind of relationship with many underwriters and home office employees.. And I am curious about why a case is declined as any agent would be and I have asked in the past. However, now I don't ask as I don't care to put the HO person on the spot by having to choose to either not tell me or to violate company policy.(or the law)

The case was declined because sale was not completed using a telesale approach. The agent was also fined an undisclosed amount byTins. Case closed

I used to use Americo as my primary carrier and situations like yours are the reason why they are no longer my primary. Still a very good secondary carrier. When a prospect has a history of using meds like Plavix and other blood thinners you're much better off to call an underwriter with a risk assessment. If the underwriter says it's ok, make note of what was said and the underwriter you spoke with. That GREATLY increase your chance of business getting issued. If an app is submitted with a history of blood thinners without prior approval, you can pretty much count on an UP3 rating.

Has it been your experience that they talk a while to issue clean policies? They told me I could expect a week for issue and two weeks to get paid once submitted.
