Anyone Work for Ameri-life?

Don't listen to 90% of the bs on this thread. Go into any opportunity with an open mind and you will be fine.

You're a real piece of work. At first I thought you were an Amerilife shill but now, after reading some of your other "contributions," I think you're merely a horse's a**.

Did you miss the posts on how this "agent mill" screws every last dollar out of these people and spits them out? And then to top it off, horrendous non-compete agreements to ensure their financial destruction is complete, after they leave? How about the posts from people who have been defrauded of their commissions and charged-back by Amerilife for clients who are still enrolled? Did you completely miss the posts about Amerilife sending their agents out to churn all the business away from recently-departed folks, to add even more injury to insult?

"Go into any opportunity with an open mind." Right. If I enter a burning house with an "open mind" I will still end up getting burned.

I don't have any axe to grind with this bunch as I have never had any association with them, but have read enough to see exactly who they are and what they do. And I've seen it before with others.

You can see agents making good money there, but you must be comfortable being micro-managed and under the understanding that not a single client is yours.

They even call current clients with active agents in the company to sell other products and even switch products they have with the other agent. That is reason enough to avoid working there. If they do that with active agents imagine when you leave?

That call board is a complete farce, my friend. The agents never see the "good" money.

Glad you are out, congratulations!

Thank you for warning other new agents. I appreciate the backup!!!

I have in the past. A great place to start as far as training for the senior market.
I do not talk bad about anyone. I was not a fan of the $150 per month leads, so I left. Very strong no compete clause.

$150 dollars a month for leads is a pretty damn good deal, I read a lot of posts on this thread that think it's not. However, what are the commission rates? The heck with the 150 bucks, the real cost is the difference from 110% + to what ever the IMO pays. Anyone have any idea what Amerilife is paying?

The 2nd thing Ive noticed is a lot of much a do about some sort of non-compete agreement. First of, I would check with my state AG office, most states have explicit laws against any sort of non-compete that would prevents you from engaging in your line of work to earn a living. I don't recall what year but SCOTUS ruled on this as well. Simply put, a non-compete that would keep you from earning a living is unenforceable in court, unless they have paid you some form of consideration, and it would have to be significant $$$, which I doubt they did.

I'm not talking about an agreement the bars you from soliciting their clients, duh. But Ive seen more than a few agencies attempt to tie hands of agents with so called non-competes that you cant work in the industry or something for so many years or within 15 miles, when the town you live in is only 5 miles wide. I have yet to read of a case where a single one of these has ever been upheld in a court decision. Unlike if you bought a local bar and there is a non compete in the sales agreement prohibiting the seller from opening a bar within 5 miles for the next 5 years, where there is valuable considerations ($$$) exchanged. This would be held up as reasonable and something the buyer could expect. But signing some 1099 agreement, that if you leave your not going to sell in surance for x number of years or some other bullshit.

I know of a major captive P&C insurer that has a non-compete, 2 years, and 2 miles, after they sink 100k into your agency, and I have yet to ever have met an agent or read a story of anyone going to court with these guys.

So for you newbies I would encourage you to ignore the intimidation and scare tactics most of these other SOB's use, cause at the end of the day most of em are a bunch of bully salespeople trying to inch their way into your pockets, with absolutely no legal standing.

The $150 per month for leads is all prior customers that they send different agents to every two weeks. In some cases it is current customers whose agent left the business and they want to roll the business. You're lucky if you get 5 prospects per month that hasn't had an Amerilife agent in their house before. Most days they only had 2-4 appointments to hand out for a group of 12 agents and the same few agents got these every day. All others went to the managers.

When they sign you up with carriers they do it in bulk and that's where the non compete really gets you because they won't release you during your non compete period.

WoW it just keeps getting worse and worse.

Outfits like this are what give our business a bad name.

If I were one of those seniors and agents kept showing up over and over, I'd be really ticked.

I just quit amerilife after only a few months. I was about to go bankrupt. I was hired to staff CVS pharmacies during open enrollment and after I signed the dreaded contract, no money for months. I was never placed in a pharmacy just given 1 week of training. When I explained this to the GM I was told to count on being sued if I sold any insurance in the state for 24 months. Can they really do this to me?

Flowergirl, so sorry you are/WERE! caught in the Amerilie snare.

Your GM is a liar and trained to intimidate you so do not deal with him anymore and, please do not believe him.

Go back and read/study this thread and plan your next move. It is all here.:)
