Appointment Setter Recommendations

I'm positive whats affecting Dougs PPL is the state of Fla. I can assure you the States Of Ga,Fla,Texas and California the ppl's are 1/2 anywere else using an appt setter. Just like mail response rates are teribble in these states.I've had several appt setters and even ones that call for the top agts on this board and they've called these states and says its brutal to set appts and have failed miserably. The only way to overcome this is to buy 40-60 leads a week and they screw up 1/2 of them.In the end I have to call and DK.It's what you bank not your gross AP

Hard to argue with this based on my experience. Easier to question JD's opinion based on one agent who isn't on here giving a first hand account.

Well I gotta disagree here JD. Someone using an appt setter has to buy more leads then someone setting their own appts.

A great appt setter will only set 50% of your leads. Many weeks my setter sets 35% or below. How could that not affect PPL?

When I set my own appts I averaged around 60-70%. If your setter is setting only 35-50%, you're going to need 1.5-2x the amount of the leads to get the same amount of appts. Plus you get a higher no show rate with setters.

All of that will affect your PPL negatively.

Exactly!

The reason my wife and I are successful today is because we started off ONLY door knocking in order to got the most out of each lead. Then the time came to make calls and DK in between. Then eventually, it made sense to get a setter!

A lot of agents tend to want to Run before they Crawl and that is why they struggle so hard for so long, or just end up out of the game after a couple months.

This is absolutely true and has been my experience after working in 10 different states and many cities within those states. There is not a doubt in my mind that if Doug was in a different area his numbers would be even more through the roof and PPL would be much better.

I have personally trained a couple of Appt Setter's that could kill it in one area and be horrendous in another area with the same script, same amount of leads and with enough data to lead me to my conclusion.

If someone does not believe this, my ONLY thought about them is they have not worked enough areas to find out the truth for themselves.

All areas are NOT created equal in the FE world

Question all you want. The difference is that agent doesn't put himself out to be a "rock star" and "rock star trainer" either.

And yes, a setter does affect your PPL. It makes it higher. The whole reason for using an appointment setter is to be more efficient. If that's not the case then why on earth is someone using a setter?

It's the same reason that you have argued using leads over doorknocking. Time equals money.

Using an appointment setter is more efficient, but it costs more money.

And many agents not good on the phone and thus use one regardless of ppl.Imho 3 days of appts and 2 days of dking is the perfect combo for somebody wanting to work 5 days a week.

I agree with that. But if it's truly more efficient then your PPL will be higher, not lower. That was point to Doug in the first place.

Again, it's production per lead, not cost per lead. of course your cost per lead is going to be more when you add in what you pay the setter.

But if the setter is not making you more efficient then why would you use one?

That has nothing to do with what we are talking about.

Ok maybe I don't understand PPL correctly then.

If I buy 20 DM leads and sell $2000 AP, is that not 100 PPL?
