California 18 Year Old Quote

Credit scores are not used in CA for auto rates. That doesn't make a difference.

Finding the right carrier makes a big difference!!!

California car insurance is mostly directed from the guidelines of Proposition 103. There are 3 primary indicators to fall into a good driver category. 1) 3 consecutive years of being licensed to drive 2) Have no more than 1 minor violation over the past 3 years 3) Have no major violations on record (DUI). If you meet the main 3 a good driver is to get a 20% discount on rates. Pay attention to when you have the 3 years driving experience and this should help drop rates. All the best with the new job offer!

Actually start tomorrow! Thanks.

Who do you recommend? And what do you think my target price should be? I mean I'm more than willing to pay around 2.5k. But something around 5-7k, no way.

You mentioned that there were other drivers on the quote that you received....do they have any tickets/issues on their histories, sometimes that makes a different.

Who I recommend would depend on a lot of factors, starting with what zip code you live in.

There is never a single answer to this type of question, it depends on what the carriers appetite is for the specific risk.

In general, an 18 year old, on their own policy is not a good bet for companies like State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, CSAA, etc. They all price themselves to avoid this type of risk.

I try not to give estimates, but there are many options in CA to match a carrier with your particular needs. You need someone to quote this for you that has access to a variety of carriers.

Thanks for the reply, I checked out State Farm, Allstate, Geico, Progressive, and Metlife. Online quotes only.

In Michigan only liability was required, but I always had full coverage 100/300k. Then again there were 4 vehicles so maybe additional vehicle discount, on top of that home owner's. Do you recommend any insurance company? I can always stop by different agents tomorrow.

LA and the valley have high rates due to high claims. You can call us during business hours and I can set you up with an affordable policy. Mercury insurance is competitive in this area. You need a broker who an shop the rate.
