Cold Calling to Set Appoinments for Final Expense Script

Sounds about right to me. I have a really hard time selling MS over the phone, I can get the leads but I can't seem to hire anyone that can really sell them over the phone, wish I could.

I bet not in FE. And if they are then why wouyldn't they say so. I do know of agents that do very well selling term and/or med sups by phone.

It's specifically FE. Funny part is, you probably even know at least one of them. No reason for them to come on here and air their business model. They're not recruiting and have no incentive to share their business model, so there is no incentive to make waves.

I heard an old wives tale once. Not sure I remember where I heard it tho...
Guy was selling FE (not sure if there was cross sales involved) strictly over the phone. Would buy something like 100-200 leads a day (tele leads, net leads etc). He had 2 office girls that would call on the leads, if they got someone to bite they would do a little pre-qualifying then transfer the call to the Agent and he would close. I dont remember anything about close rate, persistency etc but for some reason I think i remember hearing he was clearing like 750k a year this way.....

Dont remember where it was I heard this.....might've been around the campfire with a few rum and cokes behind me....

One thing we have to keep in mind is tho this board has a very strong member base, there are hundreds of thousands of agents that have never even heard of this forum. What we see as the norm, may seem crazy to another.

I believe it could be possible but it would probably be an aberration.

I don't believe the story.

The number 1 and number 3 agents on the leader board for Foresters sell 100% over the phone and have been for 3 years straight and win the trips, which means persistency has to be above par. But to be fair they have lead generators that line up the sales. (best way I can explain it) but it is proof it works. There are several agency that are huge and house 150+ agents and they sell over the phone.

I know I know it's only good for the recruiter.

But to answer the question it does work and can be done. It is a fact.

To touch on persistency, JD if you did telesales your persistency would be almost the same as F2F, if a crappy agent sold F2F there persistency would be horrible as it would be for telesales, yes telesales would be slightly worse, but either way a crappy or inexperienced agent will have issues F2F and with telesales.

Lastly as a real example, I have averaged 6 to 8 sales people doing telesales for the last 3 years and we have averaged 4 to 6 "net" application per person every single week.

But to be blunt, in my opinion "agents" can't do telesales, it's too hard and is a grind for 8 hours a day 5 days a week, and I believe that is why only recruiters post the success, cuz agents can't and won't do it. It's not that it can't be done, it's just "agents" don't want to. It's only my opinion based on 3+ years experience. I have done both and telesales is much harder, and too net 1 more application per week as a regular agent isn't worth it.

I think we would all agree that generally speaking sales people (insurance agents) are lazy and don't want a 9 to 5 grind, hell that is why I am in the business to work less and make more.

anyway just my thoughts and opinions, and they aint worth much on the open market.

I would not agree to your generalization.

As to the other stuff, Ok, you know a guy that know a guy that knows a guy but we never hear from from damn person that says, "I do this much production from telemarketing FE and this is how much I spned on leads". Never once on this forum. Yeah I know, they are too busy to come on here.:D

As for the Foresters crap, who knows if that's true or what it takes to be a number one agent with Foresters? But even if it is true, how much are they spending on leads to get there? I was just watching a car show on TV and the mechanic was telling the shop owner what he needed to do to make this car a $60,000 car at auction. The shop owner was saying he didn't want a $60,000 auction car that he had $75,000 in. That reminded me of these fish tale we hear from marketers about FE telesales.

Today I cold called 200 people. 0 appointments. I did not use the script from the op. It was more like...

Hi ______. My name is_________and I am the local insurance agent for Wilson County. I specialize in helping folks in the senior market who would like to have some additional life insurance coverage to pay for their final expenses, so to not burden their family.

If this is of interest to you, I could stop by tomorrow to give you this free information along with a free quote?.

I used a few other scripts that I had found on the forum, and online too but it just seemed like a lot of information to be giving them right when they answer the phone.

In all, it was discouraging, but tomorrow is a new day. Most people said they already had that covered. One guy actually said, "Ma'am I don't plan on dying" and then proceeded to tell me that this conversation was a waste for both of us! It was hard not to laugh at that one.

Waiting on my DM leads to come in is going to be the death of me!
