Confession - Insurance "IS NOT" Sales . . .

You call that a bad beat Moon???? I won a 10k seat in the Caesars classic last October in Vegas. Almost 300 players. We're down to the final 5 tables. I'm dealt KK on the button, made a 1.5x the pot raise after one player already raised, flop comes K66, he raised pot, I went all in. Asshole flips AK so I'm golden in my mind. Nope, 6 on the turn, 6 on the river, his A kicker wins with the 4 of a kind. He went on to cash at 16th place. 1st place paid exactly 1 million.

I've come to the conclusion that insurance isn't sold - it is bought.
Tom

what part of life insurance is bought by people that believe in life insurance did you not get when I told you when you first got here.....shoving it down their throats as mortgage protection is not doing either the agent or the client any good.....we don't put up with that in texas...ye ha....

moon, what stakes was that at? i see it now when i play cause my skills suck now and i dont wanna risk playing 5/10 or 10/20 no.

$350 plus $35 NL tournament Charlie. I thought that would drive out the morons too...but I never cease to be amazed....

The rock and derby. I have a couple college buddies that still play there everyday. Decided to play poker for a living instead of getting a 9-5 after college.

Yes, nice work...if your bankroll is big enough to take the swings...

Enmar, that is without any doubt the worst bad beat story I've ever heard...

As I recall, you charged your newbies a fee to join your "club." What about the money they paid you? Will they get a refund?

And since you're no longer going to be writing simplified, overpriced life insurance, when the chargebacks hit without new business, who is going to pay that?

Remember, this isn't brain surgery! But apparently too complicated for you.

Hehehehe...

Smart people learn from the mistakes of others... Fools insist on making them themselves.

Charlie, here's a "bad beat" story I know you'll appreciate (from a local tournament):

I'm in the BB with K6 off. Three limpers (including UTG to my left)...

I check my option and take a flop which comes....

AK6 - rainbow.

Check (utg), check, check. I shove with K's up to discourage a draw..

The donkey next to me CALLS with A3 off!

Guess what comes on the river?

I'm guessing no help came on the turn for either of you.
So what came off on the river? The A or the 3?

Every three months he comes up with the new marketing or call center secret. It is clear the man has no direction and needs to stop recruiting because he is hurting agents with his vacillation of seeking a better easier deal on a daily basis.

Now, now, now...Tom's agents did fine. Tom must have been the only one to lose out.

Remember, Tom's agents were all making thousands of dollars a week selling by phone and they only worked maybe a day and a half per week. He trained dozens of them to do it.

People who fall for this kind of BS ALMOST (I said almost) deserve what they get.

Tom, I hope you bounce back and do something that you ARE good at but you have mislead a LOT of desperate agents. You've probably squashed the dreams of more than a few. I've been called by many, many of them. They don't want to hear what I have to tell them. Yes, I make a very good living year after year. BUT, I work long hard hours. (ouch! They don't want to hear that part. Tom, says you barely get out of bed and the money comes easy.)

Guys who want to earn their living by "building a team" or "creating a system" when they can't even earn a good living off their own sales efforts are nothing but lazy scam artists in my opinion.

Tom, I recommend you get in your car today and get out in the world and learn to sell. Go earn your own living. After you get knocked around a little bit and learn from EXPERIENCE, then you may be able to train new agents if that is your calling.

That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

this aint car or siding sales. every single member of this board tried to tell you that . . .

Yes - I agree. I've discovered it is about "Me" and not about "Price:.

So after 6 months of trying to convince us that telephone sales of final expense was the greatest thing since they put draft beer in bottles, you're changing your focus AGAIN?

No - still marketing by the Telephone - just doing it differently. I lead in differently and I close softer. It works . . .

Also - still doing Final Expense - just not my focus nor my main marketing product since every tom, dick and harry is doing it.

You going to advocate real insurance, or mini-meds? (I'm putting my money on the limited benefit, quick sell stuff).

All Health Plans - Major, Mini, Indemnity, Discount, Dental - all of it!

what part of life insurance is bought by people that believe in life insurance did you not get when I told you when you first got here.....

Agreed.

Tom - As I recall, you charged your newbies a fee to join your "club." What about the money they paid you? Will they get a refund?

They are still productive. Some are even going to sell the Health line.

And since you're no longer going to be writing simplified, overpriced life insurance, when the chargebacks hit without new business, who is going to pay that?

Never said that i wasn't going to sell FE or Life - just not my focus. Seems targeting businesses and leading with Health - opens many doors. Case in point - a dialer lead this morning. 59 Female wants health insurance. She also needs Life on herself and 69 y/o husband. Husband is also in a MA plan and wants a Med Sup. Love It!!!!!

Incorrect. Nobody is hurt. Actually - thanks to my mindset of adapting to what works - we all keep making money.

The key is finding the "easier" deal. I want to work smart not hard.

I've found that by being a clients "advocate" - they open up to me and allow me to provide them with ideas and quotes on the products and/or services THEY desire and not so much what I "sell".

I now can appease the clients every wish AND at the exact same rate as anyone else offering the same product. So - what I've learned is it's not about price - but about "me" and of course timing is everything . . .

Remember, Tom's agents were all making thousands of dollars a week selling by phone and they only worked maybe a day and a half per week. He trained dozens of them to do it. .

Yes - money was flowing as if from a faucet. It still flows - but it's harder to turn the knob now and it has become a harder sell.

My best week was over $3,000 commission. It can still be done with Health and with greater ease.

Tom, I hope you bounce back and do something that you ARE good at but you have mislead a LOT of desperate agents.

How?

Nobody was "misled". Guys like you that spout off at the mouth haven't a clue what others do.

95% of the agents I've recruited are still with me.

Has one person come onto this board and said that? Heck - 95% of the agents I've recruited ARE FROM THIS BOARD - don't you think they would be all over me here?

You've probably squashed the dreams of more than a few. I've been called by many, many of them. They don't want to hear what I have to tell them. Yes, I make a very good living year after year. BUT, I work long hard hours. (ouch! They don't want to hear that part. Tom, says you barely get out of bed and the money comes easy.)

LOL - sure you have.

If I "misled" others or "squashed their dreams" - don't you think they would post on this forum about it?

Name one agent - one agent anywhere that I've misled or squashed their dreams . . .

You can't - because they don't exist . . .

Anyway - just wanted people to know that I've come to realize that insurance isn't sales - it's about having people believe in "YOU" and believe that "YOU" will get them what "THEY" want and not so much what "YOU" think they need . . .

Gotta Love It!
