Current Status of Healthcare.gov

3-26-2014

Crazy hc.gov in Illinois today...Subsidy amount way larger than what's printed on the eligibility letter. BCBS-IL crashes upon attempt to purchase subsidized plans.. Over 60 minute on-hold wait when calling in. April 1st can't get here fast enough.

I did 2 at healthcare.gov, no problem. However, I am no longer using carrier link. I'm getting an AOR and will fix it on the back-end. And if that means I lose $20, its well worth my time and sanity at this point.

Trying to re-do my COBRA guy though. Started on hold at 12:38pm. At 4:47, we were cutoff with "sorry, the system can't handle the calls at this time".

KGMom, I'm glad you had better success than I am today. Right now I'm logged into an applicants HC.gov account, to enroll him in a BCBS plan directly at HC.gov (because the Blue Cross Illinois shopping cart is still DOA). I'm seeing the following message at the top of the HC.gov plan choice page...

March 26, 2014
"If you confirm your plan today, your coverage start date will be 06/01/2014."

That's right...JUNE 1, 2014. It's getting late, so I'll just try again tomorrow. The applicant disgustingly stepped away from the process earlier and just told me to buy the SilverPPO4 plan for him. But there's no way I'm going to finish signing up when dysfunctional hc.gov is showing a 6/1/2014 effective date.

Can you imagine all the people signing up today who are not seeing that little effective date notification sentence at the top of the enrollment page? They will THINK they're covered on May 1st...as it should be. WRONG.

Holy Chit! In an effort to pump up ObamaCare enrollment, HHS is laying landmines within it's own website. Screw the American people! Meeting enrollment goals are priority #1. So what if a few enter bankruptcy because their health insurance wasn't in effect on 5/1/2014 like it should have been. The more we screw up the system today, the more reasons we'll have for creating unprecedented enrollment extensions and opportunities. And, ultimately, we'll break the back of the insurers and take America to the Single-Payer Government Run Medical Care Promised Land.

I had one 6/1 effective show up for no reason a week ago. Called in, got transferred up to CIC, that rep told me it would be effective 5/1 no matter what the print out says. I've advised the client to bring in all plan documents when they arrive. I have the guys name/number that I talked to.

Written always trumps oral. No way I'm enrolling this guy as long as hc.gov is showing a 6/1 effective date. Too dangerous. It's the govt, not the pope.

I have one of those to do around April 7th. Hope the little checkbox is on HC.gov by then, so he can finish the application.
