Did some door knocking yesterday... and then ate some bacon

If you have weight to lose, then adding fat over and above what is natural to the food you are eating is not a good idea. I know the keto-folks will claim that "fat don't make you fat" and they like to suspend the laws of thermodynamic, but if you have excess body fat, it is better to eat leaner cuts than to drink butter blended coffee drinks. Think of it this way: High fat, moderate protein, low or no carn is optimal for creating and maintaining a lean body. When a fat person first starts such a diet, the "high fat" comes from the restaurant strapped around his waist, his butt, his chin. Once that fat is "consumed," then more dietary fat can be added to the diet. In fact, you will come to crave more dietary fat. But if you are overweight, you will slow down the weight loss on a keto or low carb diet if you decide to melt a stick of butter on your steak.
Ive gradually lost 30 pounds over the pasy 1 1/2 years, and I need to lose another 15-20 pounds. All of my fat's in my belly. I use stevia in my coffee and a little milk in the 1st cup, then usually don't add milk after that. I like the Coffee Mates, but hardly ever use them, they start to taste too sweet. I was just looking ver the list I printed off, and there're a lot of foods on there that I like.

I thought I saw somewhere that if you drink milk it should be the high fat milk. I switched to 2% years ago. What's your thoughts on milk. I'm sure that ice cream's a no no.

The bacon diet is two pounds a day for most men. Eat when hungry, drink when thirsty, sleep when tired. Some will snack throughout the day like chasejordan, others will eat at breakfast and again at dinner. Still others will have a big meal at a time of their choosing and then do it again the next day, and the next.
I ate a pound at breakfast and haven't been hungry since. Bacon's on sale for $3.99 a pound starting tomorrow. I'd better stock up.

I was going to ask you about using bacon grease to fry stuff in and for seasoning, but most of the stuff I'd use it for besides eggs are no nos. I saw where green beans should be eaten in small portions and potatoes and bread aren't on the list. Potatoes are my favorite vegetable and they can be eaten in so many ways.

Potatoes are my favorite too. I eat them sparingly as no matter how I prepare them my blood sugar spikes and stays high for hours afterwards. For what it's worth, Penn of Penn&Teller went on an all potatoe diet and lost 100 pounds or more.

Milk also spikes my blood sugar, though not nearly as bad as potatoes. I use heavy whipping cream now in my coffee and have no adverse reaction to it.

Bacon grease is a good frying oil. It is the only grease I use for higher heat frying, though I do very little frying anymore.

I think green beans should be fine. Any non-starchy vegetable should be considered on the ok list. The foods to avoid are processed sugars and starches, grains and cereals, starchy vegetables and fruits (sorry monkey, but bananas should be a no-no).

The real key is to eat when hungry - and do not eat just because you feel it is time to eat. When I am eating what I consider to be my optimal diet, I get to the point within a few weeks where I will go a day or two between meals while I am losing weight. This is because my body is finally releasing fat for fuel. The reason we gain weight is that chronically high circulating insulin causes fat storage and prevents fat release. Insulin is a one way hormone. It is why type 1 diabetics waste away to nothing without insulin injections or an insulin pump. It is also why there are so many fat type 1 diabetics.

So when I make home made french fries in the deep fat fryer, I should use bacon grease? :err:

Luckily, this monkey can't stand bananas.

The bacon diet is really a"jump start" to weight loss, blood sugar control, and resetting your body's relationship to the hunger and fat storage hormones insulin, leptin, and ghrelin. I think almost any all meat diet would do the same, so it does not necessarily have to be bacon. Bacon works exceedingly well because it is very difficult to overeat. One to two pounds in a day will keep most humans feeling satiated for the day. Other meats are easier to overeat.

A more "balanced" approach would be the "no sugar, no starch diet" from Duke University. I use this as my own guide when I am behaving myself. Once I am behaving myself, I lose weight easily, I feel better, look better, etc. I usually can leave the cravings behind and I continue to behave myself until I let myself become convinced that I can have that ice cream or the cake or that candy bar "just this once." Then all bets are off and I usually fall off the wagon until the next time. I'm not proud of it, but I am a bona fide sugar/starch addict.

I usually use lard in the fryer. I do not see why bacon grease would be a problem, but I Never used it in a deep fryer. I use it in a frying pan for eggs, fish, chicken, etc. I do not bread any meat any longer, so when I fry chicken, I season it and drop it in hot bacon grease. Good stuff.

My favorite fat is duck fat. Whenever I roast a duck I keep all the duck fat and use that fro frying as well.

That's good because I love Meat Lovers pizza.

I appreciate all of your info, it's obvious that you've done a lot of research and know what you're talking about.

I've been cooking chicken in the oven for a long time. I'll have to get some lard. I've never tried duck, I've always heard it was very greasy.

I never diet. Any time you need to drop the bodyfat, increase your cardio to an hour a day in addition to your barbell training. Then head home and drink your beer.
