Door Knocking from List...

I was thinking about knocking doors where I do have lead cards and saying something like "My company sent you one of these cards about a week ago, and out of courtesy I wanted to stop by and get this information to you."

That's perfect.

Just hit 20 to 30 doors daily and you should do just fine.

As long as you can stand the rejection and can grind it, it isn't as hard as they make it.

I did this. Took a lead card and reprinted it and put it in a clear plastic cover. My problem was my data wasn't concentrated, if I did it again it would be 50-80 with no income filters.

The list I've used is all women between 67 - 72, since they're normally the ones making the buying decision. How often have you sold a policy to a single man?

Based on 50-80 no income filters how successful would it be?

That's a great line for what you are wanting.
I'd go with that.

I can't give you an average but I can tell you my very first FE sale was to a single man. $106 monthly premium as well!:)

Any pointers on best way to door knock those that have already been mailed to but haven't returned card?

Well Ill tell you one thing... coming from the door to door business when you cold knock a door, make sure you stand back far enough from the door so you do not make them nervous to open the door. And always smile and be extra nice. People will decided if they trust you enough to open the door in the first 30 seconds of your pitch so make sure you are really happy and smiley. :jiggy:

door knocking in general just plain sucks. this business ain't for the in-experienced salesman. if you can't make it off of mailers by scheduling appointments, you need to get better or find another profession.

and as far as scheduling an appointment when you get a party that seems interested. No, get in and sell it and get gone. Only as a last resort would I schedule an appointment for a later date.

If you believe them when they say they are too busy to do it now, your in the wrong business. Sure you will get a few of them but most of the time you will be wasting time gas and money.

Buy some decent leads and schedule appointments and for the ones who won't schedule an appointment hit them up when your in the area.

What I found difficult was driving house to house (even plotted the most logical way via software). Just a lot of gas used and it was more *depressing* to drive somewhere, get out of the car, double check the name, prepare yourself......and no one home.

The depressing part was doing that over and over..........and over again.

It was far more fun just to park the car and door knock an entire neighborhood. I see now why committed door knockers do well because it's a numbers game and they play it the right way.

Visiting 30 separate homes in separate neighborhoods is a numbers game too.....except with that method you are starting your car and getting in and out of it 60 times....and burning gas.

Having a non filled out lead card isn't really special because they mail out THOUSANDS of those in that area so....you literally passed how many houses that received that mailer on your way to another house?

Might as well knock on every door and get in 50-100 door knocks in the same amount of time or less than it would take to drive to 30 different houses.

Of course you're welcome to do whatever you'd like. Just sharing my experience. In the end I just realized I couldn't stand door knocking, but props to those that do it.
