EV Takes 4 Days to Charge

I know this group is mostly olden men, but does no one think that things progress over time? EV is in its infancy.
People were against new electric trains when underground coal powered trains were the norm.
People love to laugh at new technology
The same people complaining about EV's are also the first to protest the construction of a coal fired electric generating plant within 100 miles of their homes.

The majority of our high-demand electricity is from Nature gas.
And the majority of electricity demand occurs late afternoon to the early evening, the time after which most will be plugging in their cars for an overnight charge. With the long range goal of decreasing temperature a degree or two, there will also be a savings in demand for electricity used for air conditioning.

hurricanes have become neither more frequent nor more powerful.
Maybe so, maybe not, but when you combine a hurricane with sea level rise (measurable) caused by warming of the polar ice caps (measurable), you exponentially increase the damage caused by storm surge (see Florida).

Your ox is not being gored . . .

Kinda sarcasm. Kinda not.

Kinda - The 'sky is not falling' crowd can afford the change so not a problem for them. Kinda like 'let them eat cake.

Kinda not - in that I can afford EVs and can have chargers installed. But, I see the stupidity of mandating something with no infrastructure ready.

Chicken or the egg?

California EV mandating = Fire! Aim! Ready!

Sell a teen a large IUL, Learn your product, Get Licensed.

I think itcwas @Tahoe Ray that said something like California will tax, Fee or fine ICE owners to get them to submit. I believe that to be very true. We already pay more in gas prices.
We have something like 20 refineries.

I think we pay something like 27 cents a kilowatt. I am in Maryland at the moment. It is something like 14 cents.

Of course it is stupid . . . that's the way DC (and many other government monopolies) work.

I just checked . . . we are paying $0.16 per kwh here.

Not a Zero Sum Game.

Why is it comply or die?

If anyone thinks I am against EVs tell me why?
It's highly possible that if a government official told you that you personally will never legally be given permission to buy an EV, you'd likely be here talking about the damages caused by ICE vehicles and how owning an EV would be a perfect fit for your lifestyle and the environment.

I heard similar arguments put forward by anti-maskers who just didn't like being told or forced what to do. There are also countless NRA members who have kept a rifle locked up in an untouched box in their attic for 40+ yrs who will be the first to protest even a small measure of gun reform. It's not about guns or EVs, it's about freedom from suspected government overreach.

Ive seriously been considering buying one in the next 2 years. The majority of our household driving could be done by EV since its extremely rare for us to drive over 300 miles in a single day.... and the car can be charged in the garage each night.

My biggest complain after looking at the options is that it seems like all EVs want to be supercars and compete with the TeslaX.

I dont need a 600hp car with a 300 miles range.... I need a 300hp car with a 600 mile range... much more practical imo
