Feds to Crack Down on Robo Calls

I've been approached about a new form of Robo leads. The company calls the prospect asks permission to play the message and the prospect presses the hook. The company claims they can tell when the prospect presses the hook and instantly sends you that prospects information. I'm in at the ground floor and can offer theses leads for $100 per thousand (Josh I think I'm going to be doing some volume can we work a deal on your lists).

For anyone who is to young to remember in the old days the thing you put the phone reciever on to hang up the phone was called the hook.

Are you saying that if you want to hear the message, please hang up now? By hanging up, you are giving your consent to be called about xyz product?

I love the idea!!! So much so in fact, I have patented it. I will be calling you to collect my royalties.

You just had to remind me that I am older than dirt, didn't you? A few months ago my wife dug out her mother's old French Provincial phone an put it in our bedroom. You should have seen the grandkids, ages 14, 10, 8 and 6 trying to figure out how to dial it. Once we explained it to them, they used it to call their friends but they never could figure out how to send a Text Message with it! :D:D

Hello everyone -
I'm new around here so thought I would intro myself.
I am not an insurance professional. I'm no stranger to sales, though.

I put together a Squidoo Lens on the topic of burial insurance because it occurred to me that if I didn't get my stuff together, my adult children would likely have to pass the hat at church to plant me in the ground.

That's what happened to two people I knew -and I don't want to go there.

I can't help to marvel at the discussion about robo dialing (the fine line legality questions, ect.). I have come to realize that cold calling and robo calling are methods that no recipient appreciates.

I prefer to forget about the nine out of ten people who won't buy what I have -no matter what. I find it more fun (yes, fun) to target only the people who will likely be receptive to what I have to offer.

How does one identify those people? I can expand on that but right now I'm pressed for time. And, I don't want this to look like "War and Peace."

More later.

Best regards,
Vic Doke

I generally try to be open-minded, but those attorneys, if that's what they concluded, are idiots. The law is pretty clear and you can see it right on the FTC website.

It's legal *IF* there is a live intro and they have permission to play the message. A straight robo call is totally, completely, and inexcusably illegal in the absence of express permission for such calls.

FTC Robo Call Ban | Auto Dialer Services

Whether or not the agents take the live transfer and whether or not they're licensed is irrelevant.

Again, if they have a live person getting permission from the prospect before playing the recording, that's different, but without the permission it's totally and completely illegal.

True, but just to add a little clarification to your comment for forum members that may take it the wrong way; It's only illegal if you call consumers with a robo-dialer, not if you call businesses.

When I call you, if you press 1, you'll find out.

- That's a Good one! :D

From what I understand as long as a live person answers the phone first and then connects them to the recorded message, it's legal.

Close.

They have to get permission to play the message. If it's just "Hello, hold on...", no dice. If they ask if the prospect wants to hear a recording about (whatever), then you're gold.
