Final Expense Bank account question on the phone ?

Unless you are consistently running into issues with banking, I wouldn't even ask about it until you are at that point. Yes, that may mean a presentation to someone who can't pay, but that should be the exception and not the rule. You may be losing more by pre-qualifying on it than by presenting to people who can't pay.
I never mention the bank until we get to the EFT authorization, and by that time the sale's already made.

The OP's selling FE over the phone, so he probably is trying to pre-qualify to avoid DE cards or people that want to pay by check, which is very rare.

Exactly, unless his marketing is pulling in a bunch of DE people, he's hurting himself more than he is helping by pre-qualifying on this. And even if it is a bunch of DE people, then he needs to find a carrier that will take it. Just no advances on it.

How should I ask, how would you word it

He's not saying the words are wrong. He's saying how you are saying them is wrong. Without hearing you say it, its hard to say. But you are probably putting more emphasis on it than you should. Although I would reword it as well.

Miss Jones - your Insurance Company - Settlers will work directly with your bank to make sure your premium payments are made on time each month. This way you never lose your valuable coverage.

Do you bank local or one of them there online banks?

Local? That's great. I love to support the businesses in my community too! Which one do you use?

Gotcha! ( google bank in her city & zip - so, Miss Jones, do you use the Wells Fargo on Smith St or US 1 ? )

Smith St - great! Grab your checkbook and we'll verify the numbers are correct. We don't want Settlers to have the wrong information. I'll wait while you get it . . .

You already have her routing # by using ABA - simply say: Miss Smith, on the bottom left of your check - I'm showing the 9 digit # of 123456789 - is that correct? Great! The set of #'s right next to that is your account # - can you read them to me slowly please? Awesome - that's 1234567 - right?

Perfect we are all set there . . .

Now who should Settlers send the $15,000 to when your time on Earth is done? Son, Daughter, your Church . . .?

Wow! That's a bit to jugular on someone you've never met.

"Mrs. Jones, do you drink milk? Well we all know that milk has an expiration date on it don't we? Mrs. Jones you have an expiration date too. So, when you go bad and we have to do something with you, who should we send the money too."

Give that a try.
