FMO Mailing & They Want Copies of the Leads

I think the greater issue is why CALTC even suspects his upline might screw him. I have a terrific relationship with my upline. They just paid for a 5000 mail drop for me. Not for a second did any negative or cynical thought creep into my mind. So, if there is cynicism or negative thoughts then you are probably with the wrong upline.

Or you are just a cynic with everyone? :)

To me, that is the million dollar question. If you really think they are going to screw you over, why are you even using them?

Were the IMO, I'd also be worried about the trust issues. People who don't trust others generally do so for a reason, they are untrustworthy themselves.

When you qualify based on production, they are giving some of the override back in the form of a mailing, could have been an ipad, trip or whatever it is.

When I earned an ipad they didn't ask if I was using it and if not please send it back.

Do they really need the copies to know if I am working them ?

Agents must use an FMO.

Not sure about "screw over", but if someone tells me they need copies of my potential clients, I see that as a red flag.

I'll go further and say an agent is naive at best if they aren't at least cautious with an FMO.

An FMO is a total stranger in another city, staffed with many people, people that are coming and going.

Trust your family, friends, close business associates.

You work with an FMO.

My upline is in my city. They are not total strangers to me. In fact, I consider them a close business associate. They are a 3rd generation family business. Great people.

Sounds like a good situation for you.

I am going to venture a guess that they don't handle all of your business, possibly the bulk of it ?

Side Note:

I like working with this FMO for various other reasons.

I just don't like this particular issue.

They handle all of my life insurance; and a decent part of my LTC (Genworth, Omaha, Trans, Hancock, State Life, Lincoln) I go outside for Mass, Pacific Life, Medamerica. I do, however, send my disability insurance elsewhere.

Not necessarily. Sometimes, people are difficult. I remember about 11 years ago introduced a new agent who I did not know to my upline. After a few weeks, I got a call that they could not work with her because of how she was relating to her case manager.

Experience has taught me this to be true time and time again.

Yes, you do get burned very so often, but you would also miss out on wonderful opportunities. I know I am vastly better off in life by operating on this principle.

He knew that he was. He actually went to LH next which has zero chance of survival in my and JD's area.

He's a security guard now.

You should have given him an option payment in full for the leads within 5 days or he allows you to purchase a life insurance policy on him....Make sure you let him know you only need ART and when he passes you will get the money he owes you.

You should do that Craigslist prank somebody told about the other day. Get a fake e-mail account and post his address on Craigslist saying he's giving everything away...1st come gets it. :twitchy:

This is harsh :-)

Situation here is that FMO offers "free" leads. These leads aren't "free" actually - someone has to shell out $$. Based on that, FMO wants to have a copy of these leads. Reasons may be many - following up to make sure the leads are not wasted (if they have any sort of way to track what has happened to these leads, whether the agent followed up - after all, clients returned a card and expressed interest, no reason to NOT provide them with a good service). Even those clients that went ahead and bought say LTCi product - now FMO still would want to keep contact info around should a chance arise to offer them more services.
I can't see any reason this would be a problem - win/win situation all around. You get "free" leads (not sure what commission schedule is attached to the deal) - and if the lead quality is decent - you end up with more $ than you had before. On the other hand, if you don't know what sort of campaign creative was used and [assuming] they won't tell you - lead quality may not be good, and you end up wasting your time following up.
I'd prefer to think if this is FMO that you have existing relationship with - no reason to be paranoid.
