I recently received some information about Family Life looking for Agents to do Med Sup in NJ. Has anybody her work with them in any of the States that they currently sell Med Sup in?

Put a couple of my yearly "shoppers" with them. They seem legit so far but the jury is still out. You don't want to use them as your sole carrier as they have 5 yr look back. Very fast underwriting.

You've got to love your "yearly shoppers", we all have them. haha

I'm not sure what you mean by "legit". If they are competitive there is no reason not to recommend them.

If they have a five year look back I think I would give them a front row seat in the companies I recommend to prospects. Premium increases are driven by claims. It sounds like they are looking for healthy people as opposed to just those who can fog a mirror. Rates should be good and hold at that level for some time.

Not yet approved in NJ, but a little birdie sent me their prices, the get your foot in the door kind of pricing. Down the road who knows what will happen.

Most Seniors buy on price, and a few buy quality. Even if the plans are the same company to company.

In my experience seniors only buy based on saving money on their monthly premium.

Plans must to be the same from company to company. The plans are standardized.

Frank, I know that, I didnt type what I meant to say....Seniors buy on price, they dont care who you are ( what company) , just your plan "?" is the cheapest one.

I think the company with the bigger name, higher rating and slighly higher premium (UoO) is easier to sell.

I respectfully disagree. I have never sold Med Supps for a "big name" company. The easiest to sell is the most competitive.

I do not view company ratings as a strong selling point, neither do seniors.

Please let us know how that works for you.

With UoO and FLIC the biggest difference in premium in my area is around $10 (husband/wife disc on F). The younger females without the discount are around $6 cheaper. Not enough difference there to justify choosing a brand new "B+" company over an "A+" company that everyone's heard of. Now if the premium difference were larger then different story.

Based on this logic, all one would have to do is get a contract with the lowest priced carrier in his state and he would find success.

Seniors buying on price is only half the story. We are all forgetting the one crucial element when it comes to selling med supps.

The senior client has to buy the agent. Agents selling med supps need to learn how to sell themselves more than anything else. If they like you, trust you, AND you can save them money... Then BOOM a sale is made.

If you can save someone $100/month on their premiums for the exact same plan and they don't like you, or trust you, then you will not make a sale. Period
