Health insurance doubled !

Read down a few para's,

Aliera Care Acknowledgement

I understand that Aliera Health (a health sharing ministry) is NOT insurance nor does it provide insurance coverage. It is not intended to be a replacement of comprehensive health coverage found through the Federal or State exchange.

Unity HealthShare, is a faith-based need sharing membership. Eligible needs are shared by the members according to the membership guidelines. This membership is not a legal binding agreement and does not guarantee or promise that your eligible needs will be shared by the membership. It makes no assumption of risks. If sharing is not possible, you will remain financially liable for unpaid medical bills.

The financial assistance members receive come from other member's monthly contributions that are placed in an escrow account, not from Unity HealthShare.

Aliera care does NOT fall under the oversight of the Department of Insurance (DOI).

There is no DOI protection or backstop in case the company goes bankrupt, claims are not paid, or coverage is denied.

A person who has Alieracare is NOT subject to the tax penalty under Obamacare rules.

I understand that:

  1. There is a 24-month pre-existing condition exclusion for hospitalization in which the membership does not share on any hospital needs for any condition you've been treated for, received medical advice for, taken prescriptions for or had any surgery for in the past 24 months prior to joining the membership.
  2. This plan covers hospital expenses incurred by you and eligible members when you have an emergency room visit or has extended into a hospital stay for conditions not related to prior pre-existing conditions.
  3. If the ER is used for a non-emergency situation then the expenses may not be covered.
  4. All members are required to activate their accounts prior to using the membership.

Aliera Care does not cover Mental Health benefits.

Aliera Care is not required to cover the Essential Health Benefits under the ACA law.

By law, Aliera Care does undergo an audit annually by an independent accounting firm to ensure financial stability. 20% of premium is help in reserves for claims

Still waiting for a link showing that the GA DOI has approved this product.

Having a business license in the state of GA is not the same as DOI approval of a product.

This guy is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Even worse, no telling how much financial damage he will inflict on his unsuspecting victims.

This is exactly the type of thing regulators need to crack down on. This guy is telling agents lie after lie about this product... no telling what lies he is telling consumers.
I responded to your request in the thread.

Why are they using the word "premium" for a non-insurance product?

20% seems low to me. At least Obamacare allows 25% for claim reserves.
This is an excellent question. I will get an answer for you today.

KENTUCKY ALTERNATIVE HEALTH CARE PLANS

Thank you for visiting the Insurance Forum. I would like to extend a warm welcome to Americans that need health care. Today, this is a public service announcement for the great American people in Kentucky. If you need affordable health care, an Alternative Health Care Plan is an option. Abraham Lincoln was born in Hodgenville,Kentucky. He is one of the most widely recognized figures in American history. Lincoln said, “ I have simply tried to do what seemed best each day, as each day came.” Lincoln tried to do his best every day. Do your best to get health care coverage for your family.

The State of Kentucky's Revised Statue 304.-120 (7), provides a notice about alternative health care plans:

“ Kentucky Revised Statute 304.1-120 (7) Notice: Under Kentucky law, the religious organization facilitating the sharing of medical expenses is not an insurance company, and its guidelines, plan of operation, or any other document of the religious organization do not constitute or create an insurance policy. Participation in the religious organization or a subscription to any of its documents shall not be considered insurance. Any assistance you receive with your medical bills will be totally voluntary. Neither the organization nor any participant shall be compelled by law to contribute toward your medical bills. Whether or not you receive any payments for medical expenses, and whether or not this organization continues to operate, you shall be personally responsible for the payment of your medical bills.”

According to The Associated Press, in 2018, many counties in Kentucky might not have access to an affordable health plan. For example, “Anthem Not Offering Health Insurance Plans in Half of Kentucky in 2018.” There were 120 counties on the exchanges. Now, that number will drop to 61. Do you live in one of these counties?

Moverover, “A number of companies are marketing “health discount plans” in Kentucky offering savings on everything from doctor visits and prescription medications to travel and legal advice. The Kentucky Department of Insurance would like to caution consumers to review the material carefully to be certain the benefits provided by such plans are worth the cost.”

As agents, let us do the best we can to help families in Kentucky. Sometimes people do things that hurt our communities:

" Private and public payers -- like Medicare, Medicaid and your own private health insurance company -- are the ones experiencing the losses directly," John E. Kuhn Jr., U.S. Attorney for Kentucky's Western District, said at a news conference. "But make no mistake: Health care fraud is costing each and every one of us in the form of significantly higher health insurance premiums and more tax dollars required for public health programs."

Finally, no families should be left behind. As agents, we can work to help families in Kentucky get reasonable and affordable health care services. In a few weeks, we will visit the great state of Texas.

Lyman Abbott said, "service makes men competent." Healthcare is very expensive. There are many reasons why the costs continue to increase. A few companies are trying to provide better health care services at a lower cost. However, in the process, some families are getting the Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC). You can avoid the health care insurance penalty with some of these plans. Here are a few reasons why families are using alternative health care plans.

Alternative Health Care Plans Lower Costs

First, it is important to know that alternative health care plans cost less than traditional insurance plans. Keep in mind that these plans are not insurance plans. Insurance agents can not solicit these plans as insurance. Therefore, agents need to contact there state's insurance department to find out if alternative health care plans are approved in their state. For example, some families are getting coverage for less than $1,000 per month.

Easy Application Process Alternative Health Care

Next, it is important to know that families apply for alternative health care plans because the application process is easy. You apply online or with an agent. Your monthly payment will help pay claims for all members. In most cases, your membership will be activated through the alternative health care company website. You get an identification card that is known by your physician or hospital. The health care provider submits a reasonable bill and the alternative health care company pays the doctor or hospital.

Coverage Is Available In Many States

Then, it is important to know that many states insurance departments are approving alternative health care plans. Agents are helping families get alternative health care plans. Agents should contact their state insurance commissioner to find out if alternative health care plans are approved in their state. The alternative plans cover telemedicine, preventive medicine, primary care, urgent care, laboratory diagnostics, hospitalization, surgery and much more.

Finally, there is no open enrollment period every year under the alternative health care plans. Business owners help their families because they can send a website link to their employees to start the enrollment process at any time during the year. There is a one-time start-up fee by some companies. The private sector is going to be the solution for health care plans in the future.
