Health Sherpa

KGMom, last year, did you obtain the official subsidy $$$ amount before purchasing the plan? I did, because sometimes the actual amount granted by HHS would be less than what the calculator estimated..or they'd be denied totally.

What will you do to appease a client who thinks his Blue plan will be $550 after the $300 subsidy is applied, only to find out when he gets his packet that the official subsidy was only $240 and his premium is $610 instead?

If he/she says, "I don't want this, put me on something that's close to the price you estimated", how do you handle it? You call the Marketplace and ask them to change the plan?

Gotta plan ahead because you know there will be cases like this when the true subsidy amount is unknown at the time of plan purchase. Thoughts?

I didn't have this happen. Ever.

But you've got to remember, that my subsidy based business is miniscule compared to everyone else

Quick question - if I were to enroll someone this year through HealthSherpa (this would be a client receiving a subsidy), who does that person notify to cancel their subsidized plan from the previous year? Is it through the Marketplace, or do they just call the carrier to dis-enroll?

Depends on the carrier.
Safest bet is to notify the Marketplace.
Marketplace says to give them 14 days to process a cancellation.

Our system uses the WBE integration to make a best attempt to locate the previous application, and then updates the plan. Otherwise, if it can't find the application, it creates a new one and submits it.

We processed several thousand applications today smoothly. Our agents are both filling apps while logged in (around 3-5 minutes per typical app) and using their consumer facing site.

Ning, congratulations to your brilliant Health Sherpa team!

As the first day of open-enrollment comes to an end, it's safe to say that HealthSherpa has out-performed even the Insurance Companies in every measurement of QHP enrollment speed, efficiency, quality, and communicating. Thank-you!

What support features are there for submitting requested documentation such as citizenship and income proofs? Any way to upload that to the marketplace?

How are life changes handled? Say we have a h/w, mid year wife goes on Medicare, what is the best way with Sherpa do drop her off and leave him?

Sorry for the basic questions, my Medicare book has occupied me, not for phase two of the season. Seven day work weeks are getting old.

I submitted an application this morning and the next screen said it would be processed once Open Enrollment began-they really need to change that screen to something more up to date.

For those of you who have submitted applications, has anyone received their eligibility letter in real time or is there a wait? It isn't a big deal for me, just want to know that I am in the same boat as everyone else.
