Health Sherpa

Out of curiosity, I chose a plan and entered fake info right up to the point of submitting it. It was too easy. How do they bypass the identity verification? How would the applicant see their subsidy eligibility results? Many more questions than answers. Seems to be nothing more than a scheme to harvest your personal info. (Name, SSN, e-mail, address, income, employer, etc..) A crook with this much detailed information could make a lot of money. Below is wording from the final page. Since I'm applicant #64, it appears that Americans aren't as dumb as this Sherpa company thinks we are. -ac

Below is the last page of the https://www.healthsherpa.com/ enrollment form...

I AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING:

No one applying for coverage is in jail.

I give permission to the federal marketplace to access my tax returns for up to 5 years to verify my income for subsidy purposes. I can revoke this permission at anytime.

I will notify the insurer if anything on this application changes. I can do this through the federal marketplace. I understand a change could affect eligibility our eligibility for plans and subsidies.

I'm signing this application under penalty of perjury, which means I've provided true answers to all of the questions to the best of my knowledge. I know that I may be subject to penalties under federal law if I intentionally provide false or untrue information.

I authorize HealthSherpa to submit and sign this application on my behalf.

Next Steps

We will now submit your application to the federal marketplace. When we are done, we will send you a confirmation email.

For your records, your application ID is: 64.
If anything unexpected happens, like a premium or subsidy change, we will pause the application and contact you as soon as possible. Otherwise, we will enroll you in the plan you selected.
After the marketplace confirms your enrollment, the insurer will send you a welcome packet containing your proof of insurance, as well as instructions for paying your first month's premium.
If you have any questions, please give us a call at (866) 796 6017 or email us at [email protected].
If you enjoyed applying for coverage through HealthSherpa, tell your friends! We want to make this process easy for as many people as possible.

Thanks,
The HealthSherpa Team

I really don't see why all the hype about Health Sherpa. Although considering the hundreds of posts and happy customers it seems to be working OK, it still has some very disturbing shortcomings.
-You don't get an immediate eligibility report (not refreshing for customers)
-As it does not exist, you can't access your Marketplace account
-As no account exists, no way of adding dental or reporting a life change.
-If you wanted to do the above you'd have to go through 80% of a regular Marketplace application creating an account and verifying identity.
-To do the above and you would have to contact the customer (a hassle)
-Last but not least, it's expensive (about an average month's commission)
I'm quite sure these alternatives to the Marketplace are evolving, but at this moment they're at it's infancy. Maybe in future open enrollments we will have a robust platform to save us time and not ransack our dwindling commissions.

Seeing some abnormalities:

Current client:
47f, 14k/year, single, renewal $42.27/mo, wanted lower premium

Using HS, we made the decision on a Silver HSA with CSR, $27/mo.

After processing, it post that her monthly premium is $61.95/mo.

WRONG DIRECTIONS. I'd have been better off leaving her alone.

Running same quote through h.gov on the "see plans/price" feature shows the $27/mo as well.

Another situation:

61f @ 19/k/year account processed premium at 169.96

We enrolled on the quote of 94/mo

Starting to feel ill.

Rus,

Make sure you are supplying the right information about your ffm user id and password. I was giving them a new password, but didn't remember that I had changed my user id. My apps were stacking up like that, now they are flying through.

Thanks G.Gordon. Trying this now. Did reset my password recently, so wondering if that was the issue. Will update if apps start moving.

I have only been charged for the 2 apps I submitted this summer so far. I do see on those two where the "access" button is. Plan has to have been submitted (you will know by the # of enrollments on your dashboard on the left). Fingers crossed...

On health Sherpa,
has anyone had luck with a signing a person up but not submitted the info yourself. I guided a friend on the 16th. Meaning sent them a quote from my account. They clicked enroll and I have not had any responses. Last night I got emails from some that I submitted my self. I am a little worried anyone have luck with a client using the submit function?

One of my clients submitted an app from my link and it worked fine.

My clients are submitting their own HealthSherpa apps.
We're getting almost-instant Eligibility Results Letters today!

TXOnline: If they are submitting their own apps and they are current clients these must be reenrolls? What about them canceling their current plans if they chose a new one? How are you handling that with them? What if they choose a crap plan where you know their Doc doesnt work with the plan but they blindly chose it anyway cuz its cheaper? What then? Not trying to dog you, trying to understand your methods.

I still have a client/plan from Tuesday that hasn't moved. Also wanted to run a United application in Brevard County only to see 0 United Health plans listed.

I can understand the data hub being down but the carries showing in Florida for Health Sherpa is full of glitches.
