Health Sherpa

I've come to the conclusion that the HealthSherpa programmers don't understand that Out-of-Pocket Maximum is more important than the Deductible. Maybe they don't even know what OOP is? After all, they are programming gurus..not health insurance specialists.

Applicants choose "sort by deductible" and then get P.O.'d at HealthSherpa when I tell them they have to click on the "+Details" button for every plan in order to see their maximum Medical Expense Out-of-Pocket potential. There should be a "Sort by Out-of-Pocket Maximum" and the OOP should be plainly shown, like it is at many other web-brokers, and healthcare.gov.

Do you think HealthSherpa's website designer consulted with Jonathan Gruber and then decided to hide the OOP, Doctor Lookup link & SOB link intentionally?

Surely HealthSherpa will HEAR the broker's needs SOON!
I agree completely!
We need to QUICKLY see:
- MOOP
And, the 2 links would be SO nice to see quickly, too:
- Doctor List
- Summary-of-Benefits

Are you telling your Sherpa applicants to set up an account at HC.gov
so that they can report status changes in the future, load documents, etc?
I'm not.
Not yet, anyway.
Don't want them going in there & messing up the data right now.

HealthSherpa probably encountered a ton of unexpected issues interfacing with HC.gov and have not been able to consider the cosmetic corrections and enhancements. Some were going to be implemented and then BOOM, O.E. hit.

I'm working one-on-one, in person, with applicants, TxOnline. We use whatever method is working best for that particular day and client configuration. Averaging 2..sometimes 3 per-day. No need or desire to do more than that.

Anyone know how to enter more than one source of income on a Sherpa app? I tried manually typing in under "other" but got word from Sherpa that was unacceptable. My client had partial income from a job and also social security benefits.

Was wondering the same thing

Thanks G Gordon. I'm curious, are others seeing all apps show up submitted and viewable on the carrier site ? I still have a few non submitted, and some not yet showing up on my carrier portal. Just be patient?

Be patient for now because of the big backlog at HealthSherpa. But be aware that apps inputted to HealthSherpa close to deadlines (like the 15th of each month) may not reach the HC.gov/State Exchange system in time...

I still have four yellow aps sitting on Sherpa not going anywhere. I notice on one that I didn't uncheck the box on the Medicare aged wife and she was "applying" for coverage. I deleted that one and resubmitted. Still sitting there. My second Sherpa app ever is still in yellow. I'm about to go h.gov on her via a phone call to the exchange.

G Gordon- this is my first OEP and so far I've only ever done 1 full application on healthcare.gov and it took an hour- the rest of my OE apps were through Sherpa to save time. Now I'm wanting to do what you're saying, go direct to Hc.gov to input the non-submitted Sherpa apps. What is the quickest and most painless way to do so? A phone call with the client on the line? Create a ffm username with them on hc.gov and go through the whole process over the phone with me inputting info? I'm kinda confused on how long that will take and also what the best approach is. What do you all think?
