Health Sherpa

There are two ways to do this:

1) If your client recently lost or was rejected by CHIP or Medicaid, answer "Yes" to that question.

2) Otherwise, if their plan was (or is getting canceled), you can put the date in - it's in the last question of each person's section.

You will then see a 1/1 effective date on the next page.

ok thanks much for the feedback - and the $25 / per app is well worth it then I assume? what are other tedious tasks that could be technologically enabled? i'm looking for ways to save independent agents money via process smoothing or simply eliminate pain with healthsherpa style functionality

Ning - The question you mentioned (asking for the date coverage is being lost) only appears if the person is applying for a tax credit. I have clients who do not qualify for a tax credit but DO qualify for a SEP because of loss of coverage. It would be great if that question could be repositioned so that getting a SEP is not dependent on applying for a tax credit. Thanks for your help on this forum!

sherpa has so far been a great time saver, also its nice to have confirmation emails auto-sent to the client. would be nice in the downtime now if they added functionality to sent either a client or broker an email reminder in x amount of days to get payment and/or send in supporting docs.

to your question it def is worth it if your doing volume, but it's not mandatory, whats it take now like 10 minutes for the avg app if your doing, UHC direct connect, Assurant connect, havent done on-exchange with any other companies yet but if your doing lets say 5 apps a day on-exchange for OEP on average, I personally would rather spend the $25 per app in leads and generate another client.

Or you could just adjust your lead filters, so your avg premium is higher and sherpa pays for itself.

Anyone know the answer to this question? Someone called exasperated w/ Healthcare.gov. She already filled out a 2015 renewal application herself (she didn't know she could get an agent to help her). It's just her and her daughter. Her daughter files her own return, but only makes about $3k a year and is still claimed as a dependent on her mom's tax return. When she did the renewal app, it kicked her daughter off due to her filing her own tax return.

That doesn't sound right to me, but beside the point. I know want to sign her up via HS. If we do an application, will it override the one currently out there for 2015? Do I need to get her to log in to her HC.gov account and delete that app before we do ours on HS? Anyone run into this before?

Thanks!

Health Sherpa was able to get 2 clients losing coverage on 12/31 effective dates of 1/1/2015 for me today, that is very impressive...

We will try to expose the SEP questions for non-subsidy applicants. This will probably go out with some other form enhancements we are working on. As a workaround for today, if their incomes are high you can enter them as a subsidy applicant and get the same result (no subsidy), but with access to the SEP question.

Our system attempts to find an existing app. If one exists, we update the application, rather than create a new one from scratch. When the system finalizes your enrollment, it attaches your NPN. The final result is an updated eligibility result and one 834 with your NPN to the issuer.

Ning you are the man. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

We have about 22 people that we are going to attempt to process for 1/1/15 SEP due to their employer and former broker dropping the ball on a new employer group plan that they finally decided they could not afford. The employees were unaware of this until yesterday, and they should be eligible for a 1/1 SEP.

Crossing my fingers that this will happen and have told the group there are zero guarantees on this happening.

Here's a little trick that might come in handy - it did for me. Access healthcare.gov from any client listing on your HealthSherpa dashboard. Once you are in healthcare.gov, you can search for ANY of your Marketplace clients, including those that were not processed through HealthSherpa. You don't need the FFM app ID# or SS#, just the name, coverage year, and date of birth.

I was able to use this to help someone make a first payment. Thought this might be helpful for some.
