Land Of Lincoln

Received yesterday from our GA:

lol, they must have listened to me when I told them that GAs are mostly useless. I'd rather they keep whatever override the GAs were earning so it will help them stay afloat.

Land of Lincoln Health will be keeping most of their current plans, and the comprehensive medical network, for 2016. That's the good news.

Not so good is that premiums will increase from 7% to 43%, depending on the plan and the location. But, since LOLH was the least expensive company in town for 2015.. and every other carrier is increasing premiums for 2016, LOLH could still be competitive if the geographic and demographic stars line up correctly.

Actually, I think it's good that they are rising prices. Now I my only headache is IlliniCare Health. If everybody will rise their prices that means clients will get more tax credit, and their part of the premium will be at the same level. Sucks for those without eligibility for tax credit though.

A good Chicago Tribune article describing the challenges facing Land of Lincoln Health for 2016.

Excerpt: ""Land of Lincoln requested about $4.5 million for 2014. It is going to receive $566,023 in December 2015. For 2015, the company estimated it would be owed $47.4 million, but CEO Jason Montrie said he doesn't expect to see a dime. "That's a significant amount of money for any company, let alone a startup," he said.""

Here's a link to the 2016 LOLH Plans Brochure.

and plans SOB page

There are eight fewer plans, but the broad PPO network seems to be unchanged, which is good news.

I just noticed in the LOLH online Broker Office that they've added links for us to make changes to clients health coverage (both On and Off Exchange) during open enrollment. If these work, they'll be a big time saver. No need to call the Marketplace, or LOLH.

Two Issues being encountered.

1. Can't log in to the FFM Broker Portal, even though LOLH has a link to the portal in the broker secure area. Works when I use HealthSherpa to access, but not LOLH. Bummer. Good idea they had, but someone doesn't know how to implement. No wonder most of their job openings are in the I.T. Programmer disciplines. (Can't get through by phone. Last e-mail took so long for response, I forgot what I'd ask them. It was so vague, that it didn't jog my memory either, LOL.)

2. Have encountered 3 doctors this week who are in one of the LOLH medical networks for 2015, but will not be for 2016. It's too bad that insureds won't know this until they visit the doctor, which will most likely be after Open Enrollment has ended. That would be a good reason for the govt to add another Special Enrollment Period trigger.

I use the consumer portal. There's a place for broker info insert along the way - just need NIPR #

That since 1/1/14 - haven't lost 1

I think the Consumer Portal requires that the client set up a LOLH account doesn't it? Am trying to bypass choosing Username, Password, Security Questions for the client...

Perhaps the LOLH Agent Portal to HC.gov requires that I do this too at some point? Never been able to get in to find out. Anyway, thanks for that information, Steven. Will give it a try with the next LOLH enrollment.

Fill out the create account with client on phone, they will get 3 emails - one of them is click here to confirm. That happens real quick

then login with their user (email) and pw that you came up - off to the races. The some verify identity stuff to get thru 1st

then a bunch of question, then the subsidy piece

You're driving to the plan selection section.

I made my own ID and played around with it w/o signing up for anything - just to get a feel. I'd do that

You can also conference call them, is where I started. Have the plan they want pre-selected!
