Land Of Lincoln

Just to give everybody a heads up, I called up land of lincoln to tell them I'm not seeing my new enrollments. They found an error and they told me to give them 72 hours to fix it and don't use my portal until then. I told them that was fine but I have an off-exchange app I need to do and I want to get the app in before they cut off enrollments because of the 15000 limit they are using. She told me 12/15 /2016 is the last day for apps.

So it looks like that will be the cutoff unless this lady doesn't know what she is talking about, which wouldn't surprise me.

It would be strange for them to set a cut-off date 2 weeks into the future. If my book of business is typical, LOLH is losing more people than they are gaining. With the hefty 2016 premium increase, LOLH now costs significantly more than the Blue Precision HMO. I've converted 4 LOLH clients to that BCBSIL plan, but only added 1 new person to LOLH for 2016.

Perhaps the LOLH rep was (unknowingly) referring to the 1.15.2015 cut-off for obtaining a 1.1.2016 effective date?

At any rate, I'm thankful that Land of Lincoln Health paid us November's commission today. They have never missed a month, or been late, in my experience. But I wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of commission reduction or cut-off at some point in the near future. Dissappointed..but not surprised. Many of the other Co-Ops who were losing money did one or the other a month or two before announcing that they were totally shutting down operations.

But thanks for sharing that information Sam. Let's hope that the LOLH lady simply misunderstood what she was told by her superiors.

Sam, your inside rumor of the 12/15/2015 LOLH enrollment cut-off may have been accurate.

Here's a copy paste of the new wording that's appearing at the LOLH quote page, https://enroll.landoflincolnhealth.org/ehp/eapp/ebuyer?execution=e1s1

What does everyone make of this new development? I assume each of you received the strange "Broker News" newsletter in your e-mail today. It used a lot of words to say little or nothing, as far as I could tell. ALSO, try to run a quote and notice the various errors it's throwing..no matter what effective date you choose.

It just occurred to me that LOLH would probably like to leave the Exchange Marketplace Healthcare.gov, but can't. Companies can't pull plans off the Exchange, just to limit enrollment, can they?

Just give everybody a heads up you have to enroll people directly through the marketplace not through their site even if they don't qualify for a subsidy.

Thanks Sam. I believe that's what all the wording on their quote page boils down to.

When LOLH shut-off business enrollment, it generated a lot of negative press. They avoided it this time by not announcing that off-exchange direct enrollment has been disabled. The contractor who handled the enrollment must have been charging LOLH a bundle.

I wonder what will be the next shoe to drop?

I did a Land Of Lincoln app thru Health Sherpa last night never received eligibility results from the marketplace on this one. All my Blue Cross ones come pretty fast through Health Sherpa. Do you think because this is with Land Of Lincoln or a healthsherpa issue?

It's most likely a Land of Lincoln issue. Maybe they told HealthCare.gov to stop processing applications too, but have not notified us, or the public yet? Some Co-ops with a lot less debt than LOLH are shutting down sign-ups early, this Open Enrollment.

I've had an eligibility response take more than 24 hours on HS. Not sure if it was LOLH or BCBS, probably was LOLH.

Technically speaking, the government is simply taking the input entered by the applicant and either OK'ing the application, or denying it.

When an enrollment is hung up in Sherpa, I don't think it's the plan selection step that's holding things up, but something before it reaches that point Since it's all behind the scenes, it's hard to tell the cause.. But IMO, Sherpa telling the FFM to send a selected plan to the chosen carrier, has to be the easiest portion of the enrollment process from a technical standpoint.
