Liberty Mutual Vs. Nationwide.....which Should I Choose to Be an Agent For?

I'm in Virginia and I'm being offered a position with Liberty Mutual as an agent. You know the drill...there's the salary, benefits, etc....of course, the renewal commission is almost nonexistent. I've also been offered a position with a Nationwide agent that's one of the top 12 in the country. He has a great practice going hitting on all cylinders (p & c, life, commercial, financial services) and has a book of over 8000 clients. I would be expanding his book of business in my town and working his current book for financial services. My cut with him would be 75% of gross commissions generated and he would keep 25%. For his cut, he provides all support and "specialists" to work jointly. And, i would get 45% of renewals.
BUT......it's a 1099 position, so there's no salary, benefits, etc.....looking for helpful advice from seasoned professionals.
