i started to get some calls from some Medicare- MEDICAID-covered members who have received letters from Social Security that advised them that Texas will not cover their Part B premium anymore. I told them to wait until the State revises the Income limits for 2018 which would bump up due the Soc Sec 2% COLA that they received.
In reviewing the NEW limits, it looks like they have NOT kept pace with the SS COLA!! They have only increased about .6 - .7% for singles and 1.3% for married couples. If I’m right, this might very well knock some covered members out of the MSP completely or result in a change of benefit level.
Last year’s QMB level was $1,005/mo for single plus $20 disregard ($1,025). 2018 is $1,012/mo for single plus $20 disregard ($1,032)- only a .6% increase despite a 2.0 % COLA increase.
QI-1 was $1,357 with disregard and now $1,386 with disregard - an increase of only .66%!!
