MetLife

I started selling when I was 22. When they would say something about how young I looked I would say, Well , if you have an older agent he has a better chance of passing before you do. At least with me you won't have to worry about me dying on you:D

Youth is one strike against you, but it's not insurmountable by any means.

There is something to be said about relating to those you market to and having the coverage yourself and people your age often do not need large amounts of life insurance. I try to sell life products (though I gravitate more towards variable annuities) but have very little life insurance on myself. I am relatively young, single, nearly debt free and have nothing in the way of family obligations. I would not mind getting some VUL in the near future or highly funded WL for a little retirement planning but death benefit is not of great concern at this point in my life.

The ONLY job I have ever had is the one I have now. Yes...when you are fuzzy-faced, it's tough to do financial planning. But you should be OK with P&C and health insurance. Life insurance will be easier to your clients under 35.

I'd make sure I had some people in my 100 that had, at least, a chance of buying. Mets not going to give you very many leads. They pretty much make you drum up your own prospects from your family and friends and the referrals they generate when you meet with them.

"Mets not going to give you very many leads."

The Met agents that I know that are new in the business get many leads. Some good. Some not so good. It all depends what office you are in.

That's surprising to hear. Thumbs up to MetLife for doing something good for the agent. Where I'm at, leads only go to established producers, as they don't want new guys blowing it on a good prospect.

That was one of the arrangements we had at my office. The experienced producers would let the new guys call their inactive clients or assigned clients that hadn't been contacted lately. When the appt was made, they'd do a joint sales call and split the commish.
