Mr. Duford-Final Expense Agent Mentor

Dave isn't the only option, nor his books.

I want to emphasize that this thread in no way diminishes Dave's program or his ability to train/mentor new agents. I need to make that very clear.

17 thousand, though..???
Just ran across this thread again.. Why are you so hung up on Dave getting $17K for his services? You aren't going to pay it anyway.. :skeptical:

Complaining about the "17 THOUSAND DOLLARS" (which must be in all caps of course) is like complaining to the bank about the interest on a loan you're not going to get because your credit is too shitty in the first place.

This is not an appropriate analogy. A better analogy would be "this would be like someone who wants to be a doctor, or lawyer, or engineer, for example, complaining about the tuition required for his or her education and the lower pay received during the first 8 to 10 years as one learns to practice one's craft."

The difference is that someone on a lead program following Mr. Duford's training ought to be able to write that first $50K in 6 months or less, as opposed to after 4 years of college, then 3 to 4 years of professional school, and then 8 to 10 years "working your way up" to the top.

In FE, if you have the work ethic, you can reach the top in 12 to 24 months. We have a guy (and by "we" I mean my upline's agency and not "me") who started in June and I believe he has written $10K every week since he started except the week he got married, during which he "only" wrote about $7K. He gets 20 DM a week and about 30 FB leads a week and he works his a$$ off and does everything the upline teaches, right down to using the same appointment script, the same door knock script, the same presentation materials, etc.

So, why am I not writing $10k every week, you might ask? I'm too much of a maverick ... I always think I can figure out a better way. So far, I haven't, but that won't keep me from trying lol ...

The serious answer is I do things very much like the wise ones here teach. Nearly everything I do comes from something I learned form @SPUR CITY, @Rearden, @Agentguy5, @bboman23. But I am an old dog who learns new tricks slowly at times. I know that had I fell under the tutelage of those folks as a 20-something rather than a soon-to-be-and-now-50-something, I'd almost guaranteed to be hitting @Jose Arteaga, numbers, maybe even Doug Massi or Matt Mungia numbers.

But what a business! In spite of having essentially worked only one day a week from the beginning of June to the beginning of September because of my father's condition at that time, I have still managed to average over $10K/month in production (no, I did not write $10K/month working one day per week - that "average" is from February 2018 to today). I expect things will do nothing but improve next year. As a matter of fact, I checked my account this morning and found $640 in deposits I had not been expecting from a couple of carriers. Took me a few minutes to discover that I am now getting paid today for work I did in February when I was just getting started full time.

So what was I talking about ... oh, yeah, Mr. Duford is good people.

It's 02/25/2020 and there are no meetings available until 03/04/2020. Isn't there a way that I can just get contracted sooner?

There are a lot of groups in here that can help you and give you the support you need day by day. Feel free to reach out if you want help in your business.

Hi Kristian - I sent an email over with times I can open up for you today.
I want to start charging 17k to agents :D - Don't know Dave, but I do know he has a large social media presence and a great YouTube channel with great content!

What are your packages like these days for agents? Seems like an older thread and some of it is probably out dated. Even though we are selling to seniors, its a fast paced changing environment. Love your content!

Dave knows his stuff for sure and he seems to always be working which is great! The downsides that I see for the most part...

1. Most of his training is free on YouTube, so you can get that stuff no matter who you are with.

2. I see no point in charging an agent for training when you are cutting their comp 40% or so already. I thought the comp cut was FOR the training...

3. Selling other products (training packages, books, monthly subscriptions, etc.) is something I tell agents to be cautious of. AFLAC makes a TON of money on recruiting agents. It doesn't matter if the agent is successful or not.

One thing I like about other options (Myself, FEX, 360, etc.) is that we all make money if the agent makes a SALE. If I hire you, train you, etc. and then you bail, I make ZERO dollars. So I give you straight answers when talking to you and will tell agents in a heartbeat if I don't think they are cut out for our organization. If I was going to make a few thousand dollars even if the agent didn't sell a policy, that story might be different.

I think if an agent is local to someone and can get PHYSICAL training (coming into the office or by their house) on a regular basis, then giving up comp for that is reasonable. But with all the options out there, I don't see a point in giving up a ton of comp AND paying for the training.

My agents get step by step guidance on each topic. Personal 1on1 training by me over the phone (or in person in several instances). I have agents fly in and train with me or I have went to agents on several occasions. I also have new agents in the car with other veteran agents pretty regularly.

This is not a knock on Dave because what he does has worked for him. I went to Los Angeles a few weeks back to meet up with some of my agents and we decided to go out on a boat fishing. You paid for a ticket. Paid more if you wanted certain spots on the boat. Had to rent your bag to put the fish in. Had to buy food/drinks on the boat. Had to rent poles. Had to buy tackle from the boat. The list goes on and on. Some manager's systems are like that boat. They have several revenue streams from their agents.

It is up to the agent to decide if they are willing to invest all of that, and if they think it is worth it, then Dave is a good option.

exactly . .the question for Dave is whether or not training these new guys is more fruitful than going out there and working on more leads. I'm sure this is more of a long term play for him .. if he has enough good agents .. later on in life he won't have to grind as much in the field. But in other to do that .. it's in his best interest to train them properly.

while the question for the OP is whether or not Dave's hands on training is worht it over the other higher commission training program that could be great but not as hands on .. you can't compare the 2 on the same playing field .. You have to assess yourself to see what kind of training is best suited for you.

I think Dave's market is mostly for newly hired agents (or other more experienced agents who value the hands on approach).

He already addressed that now he starts with 100 to 110 %.... we sometimes overthink it. The free training videos are a summary and the paid 1 on 1 training is a detailed training. Don't pay the program if you don't want to. The guy is ligit. But he is not for everybody.
