My First Week in the Wild World of FE

Thanks for sharing Paige. It's encouraging to see you starting out well.

Andy

I would say this lady is just that tough. The other side of the coin is that not many agent would wander into her neighborhoods. Especially if not from there.

She will tell you that the person she is referred to will not even open the door unless the referer calls them and tells them she is coming.
THAT"S The way to do it, huh JD?

Sounds like you just need to learn the technique of controlling the conversation by asking questions. When the prospect wonders off into netherland, you merely say, BTW Mr Prospect, could you tell me more about what concerned you enough to send in the DM card...? [or whatever subject or area you want to redirect them to]

The person who asks the questions controls the convo.
Yes definitely and once I get the sale get out, lol!!

That's the way it works for her. She is an abberation. I don't belive anyone could duplicate what she does. She deals with the lowest common denominator as most of the rest of us in the FE field.

She deals with people with no bank accounts. She has a deal with a neighborhood bank where they allow her clients to open an account with no or very little minimum deposit. She takes them to the bank and helps them get the account opened.

I know of other agents that say they have done that or do that. I will admit to doing that myself in the past. No more. And just about every other agent I've spoken to about that won't do that anymore either. If they don't have the discipline to have an account they are not going to keep it. She is the exception on that too. She has over 90% persistency with every company she writes.

Some people just have that something that can't be copied. Well, they can be but the results are never the same for the copier.

I've been lucky enough to meet a few like that. This lady is one. Tim W. is another.

We all have our niche. Our own special brand, true JD.
At the end of the day for me anyway ,I just want to know i have done my best and leave the outcome to God.
If that can happen most days the " success" comes. Or at least that is what i am hoping for.

Hey Paige, Congrats on your early success! I'm just getting started in San Diego myself, and trying to decide which company to represent. Would you mind sharing which company you decided on?

Thanks! Rob

We both started with Lincoln heritage. I don't think there is a manager down there.

There are a few managers around the San Diego area.

Adam Hale advertises for agents pretty heavily for San Diego on craigslist showing his 1099 for 1 million dollars last year. I was looking at getting started with someone right a way. Just want to make the right choice and not be bouncing around learning the hard way. Frankly, I'm a bit confused by everyones different opinion on companies...

In my opinion he has been one of the most successful people in the final expense biz. He has a great program and a ridiculous amount of training and support.

Everyone's looking for something different. For some independence is most important. Others want training and support. You have to figure out want you need the most and look for a company that offers it.

Being independent does not mean you cant have training and support. I know the LH marketers would like to have people believe that nonsense but it's still nonsense.
