Need Advice

Do you want to do phone sales or f2f, can you front lead cost or not, if not are you willing to take commission hit for leads, with option to move up comission ladder, but then incur lead cost? What commission rate are you expecting?

Your right everyone does think there company is the best. I guess I should re word my question. Is there any of these Captive companies that are not so deceptive. I have looked at One Life, Howe, Senior Life Services, American Insurance Group, NAA, Unique Underwriters and NASB. Most of these companies have terrible reviews on here. I haven't seen too many on NASB. Is there a company that you would look at seriously if you were going to go captive. I do understand you have low commission.

What state are you in?

You're definitely right about the importance of the lead saying "LIFE INSURANCE" on the mailer. I have worked leads WITH and WITHOUT the mention of "LIFE INSURANCE" on mailers and I received MUCH BETTER results w/ "LIFE INSURANCE" on the card. It's of HIGHER QUALITY.

I was specifically addressing JD's comment about the perceived value of "EFES" in regards to new agents. EFES use to offer leads that said "Life Insurance" on them which really separated them from other lead co-op's. However, now they use a very general "up date" lead. Even after switching to a "vanilla" lead card that gets a higher response the lead cost have stayed the same as they were with the "life insurance" lead.

That being said you can make tons of sales from those basic leads... I just don't see the value in giving up 30% 1st year and 5% renewal commissions when you can generate those same leads for nearly the same cost EFES charges you up front, and that's not including the money you pay on the override you give up on your business.

Correct...it's LOVELY from an efficiency stand point as well. When the card mentions "LIFE INSURANCE" on the mailer about 2-3 times it weeds out the riff-raff more often than not UP FRONT.

I've run very generic leads, leads that said life insurance and even leads that spell out that we can often find you a lower premium on your life insurance. I find a difference in the response rates but not a huge difference in the quality of lead. Some people will tell you they thought it might be free on any of them.

I actually prefer a lead that doesn't say "Life Insurance" on it... When I show the "Life" lead to the client at the front door, they start with, "ohh, I already have plenty of life insurance" and they try to chase me off... When I show them a lead that says, "Burial or Final Expense Benefit" it's easier to get into the front door...

I agree. It gets the subject back to talking about paying for their final expenses and can easily be transitioned to "leave the life insurance money you already have for what you planned it to be there for and let this final expense plan cover the cost of your final expenses and burial. It gets the conversation started and gets me in the door a lot more often than not.
