Hi guys! I am new to your forum and would like to discuss my services and get your feedback.

I have been in the appointment setting business for last 5 years and have worked w/presetting appointments for final expense, mortgage life/disability,health,medicare and other specialties.

I want to continue to work with insurance agents and brokers to setup appointments but it's like long term business relationships w/decent agents have seemed to dry up of late. I am experienced and feel I charge a fair amount per kept appt. plus, have had nice long runs w/agents in the past so, good track record. Any thoughts or advise for me? Maybe I am just on a bad streak or, looking in the wrong place. What's a good appt. setter to do?

I may not be able to reply to PM's yet so, beside postings, if you'd like to talk additionally outside the forum, please include an e mail address in your reply.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone.

How do you charge for your services?

The problem with most insurance appointment setting companies is that they just dont understand the agents position.

Most want a large up-front fee to start a calling campaign.
I cant tell you how many horror stories Ive heard about thousands of dollars spent with very little or even no results.

Unfortunately, your industry has too many scamers out there. And as an agent I am extremely weary of marketers.

But I digress.

Paying per appointment is your best bet. So your on the right track.
But the price might be your sticking point.

Pricing your service is that hardest part of your business model from my perspective.

Different types of insurance have different levels of comp. And not every appointment turns into a sale. And the number of appointments needed to close a sale can vary from product to product too.

Example: For the agent to be profitable using your service, you couldnt charge $100 for a Final Expense Appointment. They would be in the negative.

But for an Annuity appointment $100 might be worth it.

So you need to understand the agents situation to be able to correctly price your service. And obviously there are some lines of insurance that just dont make sense for you to market based on the hours worked vs. return.

I understand and am not a company BTW-Just me and I have a home office. I charge well under $20 per sit too so I feel my price is more then reasonable.

That's very reasonable.

I presume you need lead cards or do you actually generate the appointments off of cold lists?

Do you record the calls and allow the agent to hear the quality of the appointment?

Do you require a minimum number of appointments to be purchased in advance? I really considered trying out a service like yours a few years ago but they wanted $400 up front and I have been burned too many times to just hand over money to someone I don't know.

The biggest problem I have seen with these is the appointment setter just wants to get a commitment, regardless of the quality of the appointment. When I call and set up an appointment I can pretty much tell if someone is going to stand me up or not, so I vet them more thoroughly. However, appointment setters tend to just want any commitment so they can make their commission, even if the customer is just agreeing so the person will let them off the phone.
