News & Info Related To 2017 Open Enrollment

Bye dear Felix. You just can explain this, but not calling people Felicia's names, which of course creates similar responses. You obviously are insider to an ins company, or at least has a relationship with such. Whatever. The feelings between Felix and Felicia's are mutual. :)

You know ARus, I will concede that the Bye Felicias were probably a bit inflammatory, not my normal style. I apologize to you and Barb12.

As to being an insider? Nope, just an independent broker. Who is up late on a Saturday night wracking my brain trying to compose a letter that is going out to most of my clients on Monday, many of whom I have had for a long time, explaining to them why they are about to get screwed and that I can't really help most of them anymore. I have really fought it this year, and hoped that some of the other agents were overly pessimistic, but the writing is on the wall. My biggest U65 carrier is quiet right now, too quiet. Bad sign.

Now, at their time of need when their premiums are going up by 50% or more, I have to explain to my clients that I am basically abandoning them because I can't work for free and I don't really have any good alternatives for them. ****

And many of them will understand, but some of them are going to give me the "greedy health insurance companies jacking up our rates" speech, because they have no idea what they are talking about despite multiple attempts by me to educate people. And my on-exchange subsidy people aren't going to understand why I can't just help them with their applications and upload their documents, etc.

So perhaps barb12's complete lack of understanding of a complicated situation (and her inexplicable need to explain to us all how wrong everyone in the industry apparently is when they say that carriers are losing money on obamacare) struck a chord with me tonight and I reacted badly. Again, I apologize.

****and so help me, all of you reading this trying to get people in my situation to sell health shares or refer people to USHealth advisors or try your new short term or just sell a bunch of indemnity plans-back off-- I am just about to blow my top with people calling me on that crap!

Signing off for the night!

Can I call you Felix? In exchange you can call me Felicia 2?
I still working, as you do. I had 4 clients today and enrolled them for whatever they decided. Some paid me my $30 fee, some not. Some told me that they need Life insurance and I am doing 3 variations for them Life and DI combined: just trying to make an understandable and working offer all in 1 page.

About the very special enrolment: I sent to my clients a letter explaining the situation very briefly-exactly in a way the all society learned about it: at the last moment and in general terms. I work for them without commission if they ask me to do it. I try to cross sale. 30% from my U65 business is without commission for 2016.

Back about the big mess: I am for ACA. It might have need corrections, but instead it is destroyed from political (respectively lobbyists-respectively money who pay to them) interests. All other in this game is some figurines. No human position. Only money talk. If you are following my Felicia's 2 logic, I believe you understand where the problem is. Felicia 1 takes under consideration something very important.....think about it.

In general, large corporations don't care about you, your clients, me, my clients, and anybody. They care about their PROFITS, resp. bonuses, etc. No HUMANS there. Nobody is left. We can talk here as long, as we want. Nobody cares! We are only statistical numbers: so and so agents doing something down there.....trying to follow the wind....blown out from the wind.....when taking care of their clients.....sad but fact. Talk to you soon. OFF for yesterday. Going to sleep and take day off from all this.

I suppose he/she is referencing the foreign market which each one of this companies is developing.

Doubt it.

So far Barb12 has demonstrated almost no comprehension about how the health insurance industry works.

Thats no way to run a business... you should know better than that

Au contraire.

I am not sure where you get your business news, but every industry that diversifies will close or sell off unprofitable lines and keep the ones that are profitable.

Perhaps that is why eHealth is leaving the U65 market?

<SNIP>

I was reviewed the financial summary of the 5 main insurance companies on the internet and they all indicated increase in profits.

Profits for the company in total or JUST ACA business? I do not see it split out and thus you are comparing apples to lightbulbs.

enrollment chaos will be forgiven. Nightmare on the horizon.

ACA plans that see 2017 enrollment surge may avoid enforcement over consumer complaints
By Bob Herman | September 21, 2016
Health insurers that sell plans on the federal HealthCare.gov marketplace may not face “enforcement remedies” in 2017 if they fail to follow all of the rules around consumer complaints, the CMS said in a recent memo.

The federal government expects many exchange insurers will experience a sizable uptick in enrollment next year following several mass exits from large carriers. Aetna, Humana and UnitedHealth Group each have significantly reduced their presence in the Affordable Care Act marketplaces. Each for-profit insurer argued their financial losses in the exchanges were too much to bear, although each company still sells plans in select markets.

The deadline for leaving the Federal marketplace for 2017 is TODAY, 9.23.2016.

Blue Cross of NEBRASKA has announced that they will not be on the 2017 Nebraska exchange:

Also HCSC, the parent company of Blue Cross of Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and (Montana?) is shifting 70% of it's I.T. jobs overseas in 2017. Not good for agents or our clients, IMO.

what is the deadline date for health insurers to notify customers that they will not have the same plan next year or perhaps any plan available next year?
