News & Info Related To 2017 Open Enrollment

Its going to be delayed. There's no way he's going to let the rates out before Nov 8. How fast did the numbers get pulled last week? Thats the quickest the FFM has done anything since they rolled this disaster out....

The "proposed" rate increases are supposed to be posted to Healthcare.gov this week.

"The preliminary requests will be posted for public review on HealthCare.gov on May 25. In many states, the regulatory rate review is already underway."

NY Rate filings are released:

https://myportal.dfs.ny.gov/web/prior-approval/rate-applications-by-company

Public portal accessible through a Google search, so I don't see any issue posting it here.

Weighted average requests here: https://myportal.dfs.ny.gov/web/prior-approval/summary-of-2017-requested-rate-actions

17.3% Individual market, 12% group.

At least one carrier is asking for a >80% increase, half a dozen are asking for >20% on the individual side. Group seems more stable, but there's still two 60%+ requests.

Oxford/UHC won't be on SHOP, but will have Individual exchange product.

Empire BCBS is doing the same thing.

Aetna is completely out of exchanges.

Haven't had a chance to dig through all the filings, but quite a few companies are dropping products this year and either leaving holes in their portfolio or replacing with products that offer less coverage.

Of the companies with the lowest increases, they generally have the lowest enrollments, <10,000 members in many cases. Not sure how valid their experience is with 3,200 members, as we all know one high cost person can offset that many healthy members by themselves.

Some states now have their proposed 2017 premium changes posted at https://ratereview.healthcare.gov/ , but most do not.

The government must be using healthcare.gov employees for this mundane task. The employee who stripped the fewest NPNs the day before is punished with this data entry assignment. He/she is taking their sweet time of course.

Didn't United Healthcare already announce that they're leaving Florida's Exchange for 2017? Anyway, USA Today thinks it's todays news.
