Thank you very much. That really was some good advice. As of yesterday, after reading your post, I said to hell with figuring out what to say, I am calling the people I have on the list and whats the worst that can happen?

Scripts? Unless you are Robert DeNiro...it will sound like a script. Sure , you need to have an idea of what you are going to say...but do you need a script to talk to family, order a coffee,etc? No, you just do it naturally...and you will do that with practice. I hadn't had a cold call in about 15 years...when I dug in a few weeks ago,my first few were UGLY...but I got better and called back the ones I stumbled through.
So, you called 10 and got 3...probably took 30 minutes, right? Now, how long were you working on that script? Always do the math...

If you read socalbroker's post, he gives some good free info. Yes, he did plug his program....if you had one, wouldn't you?
Bottom line is, the guy posts up a lot of good info here. Hell, he even spent 45 minutes of his own time with me on the phone with some great info and tips.
This is the internet....if you don't like something, don't read it! And if you take it upon yourself to read it...and don't like it...don't snivvle about it.

I think the purpose of this forum is the free exchange of ideas.

Your post was a blatant commercial, not a discussion of a few lines in your signature.

In any event, the owner of the site appears to allow solicitation by posters. I am quite entitled to my opinion that using these forums to hustle money without compensating the person(s) who are funding this site is douchey.

You, and others, don't feel this way. Ultimately, it is the owner of the site's opinion that counts.

Like the other poster above indicated - we chatted on the phone for 45 minutes - my time on a Friday eve, giving the guy as much FREE advice as I could about commercial insurance marketing, what programs we have been having great success with in certain niches etc. How he might network more effectively in his markets.

The other poster who started this thread - we chatted a couple times via PM - where we freely exchanged a few ideas. Where I took the time to search out a few good links for the niche he was trying to market to. I guess that was DOUCHEY too as you call it?

Since youre entitled to your opinions - so am I. Here's my opinion of being DOUCHEY ...

Bitching about a persons salesy post who's contributed 10x the amount of posts and content to the site, because it poses a minor obstruction of you're LEACHING the free info and experience of others and not contributing BACK much, or saying thank you.

Im sorry the world isnt one big Ubuntu user forum LoveFest for you, where all the worlds hard fought and won battles of the insurance business are laid at your feet, ready for you to exploit.

How many leads do you buy a month ?

Ive wasted enough time with the new content sheriff in town here. Im sure you'll be busy around here if you take as much time seeking out people HUSLTLING money off forum members here.

the more I think about it, you are douchy.
Douche literally means clean/cleanse.
The emails,pm's and phone conversation we've had cleaned a lot of misconceptions I had of sales and this industry.
Like a douche.
Before you claim it and make money on it....I see a t-shirt that says.:
"I AM A DOUCHE" or " I _AM_ DOUCHEY!"
Hell, maybe even sell it to Hallmark for a card.

EVERYTHING SoCalBunker posts is a sales pitch. I guess he doesn't have enough business to keep the lights on so he has to troll here for business.

Frankly, I am not impressed with anything he has posted . . .

As for niche markets, the more you look the harder it will become. I have fallen into some niche markets over the years that pay very well.

At the same time, I have found others that looked like a sure winner only to crash & burn.

If you are starting out, and have limited resources, go for anything that breathes and moves and seek your rhythm. Eventually you will find something that works and build on that.
