Find an independent, successful agent that would be willing to teach you and split commissions 50/50 for a year, learn the ind health, term life and disability and LTC and if you will listen and do what your mentor says, no exceptions, you can get rolling pretty quick. You have to learn the basics first and make a lot of calls, but you might be very surprised how quickly you can be up and running. The challenge is finding the right mentor that will teach you and not just use you as a bird dog.

This is a sure fired method for success. 50% of something is better than 100% of nothing. It is the fastest way to learn!

You are right about setting your own hours. Also the products you choose to market are important. Everyone has a niche, or two that they especially like.
