Obama Wins!! What Next?

It doesn't seem likely that they'll accomplish what they want.

Currently if they don't use an agent, they pay the same price. Does that mean there is wiggle room on the price/profits?

Insurance companies could end up out of business or bailed out and back to square one if they must insure everyone.

Wouldn't insurance companies have started putting safeguards/preventative plans in place back when Hillary proposed this?

Didn't Nixon sign the HMO act into effect? Was that to help them (the government) or us?

I don't know Obama wants health insurance for everyone at an affordable price, one of the biggest costs of health insurance (15-25% on individual plans) is the agent's commission...it doesn't look good.

Lol yeah right, blame the hospitals and the drug companies and the doctors for skyrocketing medical costs. The agents get paid, but they get paid to be one of the few who actually understand the plans being sold.

It's going to be a while before there are any major changes I think. The current credit crisis will take a while to be sorted out, after that I'll be interested!

I think it might actually be faster than some people think. There is a perceived "mandate", there is a compliant Congress, there is a "payback" mentality right now, and Obama is even talking about how fast he plans to reverse some of Bush's executive orders. That is practically unheard of and very insulting to a sitting President. Most newly elected Presidents have the courtesy to wait until they are in office to talk about reversing what their predecessor has done.

I think there might be a "cram-down" of bills going through Congress. If Obama doesn't know anything else, he knows how to multi-task.

Hey,
Do you raise llamas?

Will they be a good investment in a Obama economy?

I cannot believe that PriceWaterhouseCoopers thinks Obamahealth will cost only $75 billion.

Once again, a Big Accounting Firm can't get it's own numbers straight.

This was posted by Clayton on his blog, I think it applies:

"In every crisis, there is opportunity.

The greater the crisis, the greater the opportunity."

It’s true that this is the greatest economic crisis this country has suffered in nearly eighty years. It’s also true that it will get worse no matter what our new president does.

And it’s also true that some of the greatest opportunities that entrepreneurs, marketing execs and copywriters have seen in decades are hidden within this crisis.

Mark my words: Over the next few years, you will see companies that find and mine those opportunities positively explode in size and profitability. You will see vast new fortunes made by those who discover ways to help people survive and thrive.

But you can be sure that those new multi-millionaires are NOT wasting a moment obsessing about whether the Bush recession will become the Obama depression.

Instead, they’re thinking about products and services they can offer people who need leadership to get their companies, families and themselves through the challenging days ahead.
Not a bad way to spend a few hours this week … no? -

Great post, on point and eye opening, to some hopefully. My dad always says "create your own economy" and "the more you help people, the more it helps you?

Most fortunes are made during downturns in the economy. You just need to either have a ton of cash stashed away somewhere, and start buying up land, and possibly companies that won't completely fold...

OR

Have a product or something that is very time and topic specific.

Since I dont have stockpiles of cash...I am trying to have the second option.
