President-elect Barack Obama and leaders of Congress are moving to block the estate tax from disappearing in 2010. Under Obama's plan, the estate tax would be locked in permanently. The tax now exempts estates of $3.5 million -- $7 million for couples -- from any taxation; estates above that are taxed at 45%.
