Post-Corona, Preparing for Normalcy

The first article doesn't have much in actual numbers as to how much of an increase that they are seeing. Just that the island is being used the same way it has been used. The director of a non profit says that there was a "spike" without going into specifics.

The second article is about a youtube clip with someone saying "There's a truck that we're gonna' put the f—king bodies in, bro," so obviously I can't argue with hard science like that.

Had to look it up and see that is now has been rescinded Saying it does not meet our standard, I guarantee they all approved it before it went into effect, It could not have just went into effect without approval and thought behind it, and only rescinded due to push back

The fact that they even tried to do it shows they will do what they can get away with

Also, this went on for at least a week beforehand and is probably still in effect
"Paramedics were previously told to spend up to 20 minutes trying to revive people found in cardiac arrest before the state had issued the drastic change."

Frankly, the low chances of a person being revived, and the low chances of any sort of quality of life after that does make this a challenging thing for a paramedic to continue doing when resources can be used elsewhere.

Nancy said money for voting by mail would be in the next stimulus package...

Y'all realize the only case of voter fraud in recent memeory that resulted in criminal charges that were proven involve Republicans in one of the Carolinas, right?

Voting by mail really shouldn't be a problem. I'm doing it for the primary. The only problem is finding the time to fill out all these ballots and coming up with interesting s

I know a few years ago they were trying to push voting by mail to really mess with the system

Voting by mail leaves a paper trail. The real concern ought to be these computerized voting machines where the exit polls are so far off from the reported results. In several states in the Democratic primary Bernie had leads based on the exit polls of those who actually cast ballots (not prior telphone surveys which are always going to be inaccurate) where the reported results didn't match at all. Why do you think it took the Iowa Democratic party week's to report the final tally? Because their machines failed to fix it for Mayor Pete or Biden.

If we were smart we'd insist on paper ballots - whether mailed in or filled in in person. A paper ballot where the voters SS# is keyed into a computer as it is recorded that would then reject any additional votes from that SS# is all that is needed. These voting computers many of us use are far more likely to be used and manipulated to produce a result different from the actual.

I am absolutley for paper ballots. If we need to wait a few days for results so be it. You guys fear the Dems stealing elections? Thenyou should support paper ballots - whether mail in or at the box. Heck - we've had mail-in ballots for generations in the form of absentee ballots. And the only one who ever messed with those was this guy ... a "political operaive" employed by a Republican congressman - and he was caught because it is not possible to stuff the ballot box as it was in the 1880's:

Has anybody thanked Georgia for taking one for the team??

There state motto is "Georgia: Where toes are a myth"

14.2% of their population is diabetic, 64.8% are overweight, and 29.6% are obese.

With that in mind, if you look up their actual motto, it's much more humorous.

We'll see how this plays out. I'd be willing to bet general lifestyle choices are a greater threat on an average day to someone in Georgia, Covid-19 or not.

We all know this will rebound the virus, where Trump will then say "it wasn't his decision, it was the governor's", followed by some 2nd amendment mumbo jumbo, and that saving the economy requires some sacrifice (at the alter), even tho "one death is too many".

We all know this will rebound the virus,

Do we? Overall the southern states have fared better with this, because they are warmer. Each new coronavirus is slightly different, but they generally behave mostly like the others. Like all past coronaviruses, they do not spread well in warm weather. That's a large part of the reason Washington and NY have done poorly with this. This is also why there has been such a difference between Northern Italy and Southern Italy. Climate.

Corona doesn't care. Northern Italy is less densely populated. If anything, viruses don't like the cold. Freezing the virus kills it. It does seem to prefer the warm moist climate of throat and nasal passages tho.
