Anybody have a upper contact # for a mgr at Foresters?

Wrote a guy a policy 2 weeks ago. 68 male non smoker, stopped smoking in 2006

Upfront honest guy and his wifes a real sweetheart. So as I'm doing the presentation and options and he chooses his plan and as I'm filling out the app we get to the coronary question and he tells me he had a stint in 2006, thats not a problem I say because its outside the 2 years the question in Pat B (b) asks. So truthfully we can answer no to that question.

Everything thing looks good, run over the MIB, he signs and were rockin and rollin here as I make the POS aptical

After completing his interview he hands the phone back to me and the interviewer asks me to ask the client again about Part C (c) the COPD/Emphysema questions, he agains says no. Interviewer says based on the interview my client is NOT eligable.. blah blah blah, when do you plan on sending in the blah blah etc

Well, theres a kick in the apple bag.. $176 premium a month.. so I'm clicking the pen, thinking.. WTF? So we start talking and he and his wife deny any COPD. Okay, so we go and order his MIB

Fast forward 10 days later

Client faxes over to me a copy of his MIB

He only has 1 hit one his MIB - And it was in 2006 when he took a medical exam for Woodman and was declined. Woodman reported the stint, hgt wgt and woah! theres the COPD

5. COPD. Symptons and descrpition suggest COPD

Now, one could argue all day about "suggesting" But theres really no need to go down that road becasue you can get immediate coverage as long as its outside of two years and not taking meds or ever been precribed meds, which this report is dated Feb/ 2006

Okay, I'm cool with that.. still its outside the 2 years and he's not taking any meds, nor was he prescribed any meds or advised to take any meds for COPD

Heres how the question reads

Part C (c)

Within the past 2 years, has the proposed insured been diagnoised with, prescribed medication for, or had been advised to have treatment for:

c) COPD or emphysema?

That answer is clearly NO

Because he was diagnoised in 2006. Client has no other reports on his MIB post 2006. Nothing because I have a copy of it.

Client has never had any medications or been advised to have treament for emphysema

Wouldnt the UW's see this on his Rx check?

I cant get a straight answer outta anybody there.. they keep telling me to contact Woodman

Contact them for what ?

The file from Woodman is irrelevent.. that was 5 years ago and outside the 2 years YOUR application asks

First time in my 12 years writing have I ever been so pissed off.. and ya know... it aint really even about the commission... its become more of a matter of principle now.

Based off that question, and his MIB.. he QUALIFIES

Anybody ever have a similar instance?

What would you do?

Anybody got a head person cont # with Foresters?

I'm a pretty resonable guy.. but this guy is getting boned

I'll put him through Monumntal if I have to with higher rates, but this dude is getting fisted

I've been writing Foresters for almost 6 years. They have been this difficult to work with for 6 years. Might as well go with another company. The guy will find coverage elsewhere with another agent before you can get it fixed with Foresters.

Thought about using RNA or Americo?

I can get immediate coverage with Monumental even if he's on meds for COPD-

I'll go with that company- thanks tho'

I'm really kinda on a mission now to fight Foresters- all we want is a "exact" reason

We dont want the "based on your MIB" sh*t answer

We want a definite answer

I know you can get the Monumental. That's about all I use them for is COPD and cradit card payers.

RNA or Americo would also give immediate coverage, providing that he does not actually have COPD, and the rates would be much better than Monumental.

RNA-$25000-$152/mo
Americo-$25000-$157/mo.-$30,000-$187/mo.

the best way to fight forester, is with your pen. by not write for them anymore. it is not worth the time or energy to fight on the phone..

Good advice, that has been my experience with Foresters.

Thanks for that, but yeah man- his MIB does state that symptons and description suggest COPD

Doubt it'll pass underwriting with Americo tho'

I've only had one case not go through with Foresters for mib reasons out of @ $100k + in ap...and he had all kinds of stuff on his mib that validated Foresters reason for not approving it. He had just been approved premier with Monumental, didn't understand how cause they pull Mib too. Just now dealing with my 2nd because of the copd question, waiting on the mib report. However, I'll take those %'s anyday..the rest are too easy!

I had a guy fail the MIB check recently on a PHI for Foresters. The Apptical interviewer had his SSN wrong. He corrected her when I gave him the phone for his part of the interview. But I have no idea if they actually ran the MIB check on his SSN. I called MIB later and they insisted it was the right social but the client and I are not convinced.

Thanks for the warning; it is nice to know ahead of time that if they did not run an incorrect social, this is going to be a colossal PITA to fix.

Had a similar thing with them when the MIB said something about alzheimers. All I did was get their dr. to write a letter on their letter head stating that the client does NOT have alzheimers.

If his Dr. will write a not like that about COPD, it shouldn't be a problem. A pain in the ass, but at least he'll get the policy he wants.
