The only long term solution is for SCOTUS to throw out subsidies and require an alternative.

There is no reason for the Marketplace, use some variation of the Republican tax credit/voucher proposal and let the insurance companies enroll applicants.

There are plenty of online websites available for people to get competitive quotes or they can use an agent or just call the company of their choice. The Marketplace burns billions of dollars annually and not only serves no purpose but screws over both the consumer and the agent.

Without going into what SCOTUS may or may not do (my crystal ball is broken), I disagree.

A voucher system will not work. It will not pass and if it does, it will not be signed. Its political suicide. Obama won't do it. Hillary won't do it. And if a Republican wins, they aren't going to sign anything that annoys half of Florida and Ohio. (Swing states with large subsidy populations). Unless they hate being POTUS and want to be a one-termer.

Long Term, we need to move OEP to 4/1 thru 6/15 for a 7/1 effective date. Everything moves from calendar year to contract (in this case, July) year. Subsidies are based on the previous years MAGI. (And please spare me the "I file an extension argument. If you want a subsidy, you can file timely. And lets face it, most people receiving a subsidy do file timely, because they are getting a refund)

Yes, for 6 months, this would be a nightmare. But its a viable long term solution.

And now for a bit of Humor...

BCBS of Illinois sent our state DOI a letter and attachments describing PPO changes for 2016. The cover letter requested that this information not be shared, due to its sensitive, competitive nature.

What did the state DOI do? They posted the letter and attachments to the IL public website for all to see!
:D

This is GOOD!

I like it.

RE: RealClearPolitics - Election Other - Public Approval of Health Care Law

Over the past 2 years, 40% to 45% of Americans have consistently been IN FAVOR of ObamaCare. It boggles my mind...

Are 40% of Americans sick and therefore in favor of the coverage it offers, despite the sky high premium? Maybe so, because it seems that every TV show has at least 1 commercial promoting medications, hospitals, or cancer/illness treatments.

That's about the same percentage of Americans who have no idea what the hell Obamacare is besides what Obama told them in a press conference half a decade ago. Who wouldn't support cheaper and better insurance for everyone that lets you keep your doctors?

They have no clue what the reality is, they just know it's a good thing because they heard it was a good thing.

I didn't/don't think 40% of Americans have cheaper, better, insurance now that ObamaCare is (almost) fully in effect. I could see 40% lovin the promises of Obama before 2014... but now?
