Senate Democrats Give White House 72 Hours

do the members of this forum think that Congress should take action or should not take action and and let things stay as the president announced?

IMO, this is just a ploy to get the policy termination blame off Obama. With that goal in mind, mission accomplished, time to go home. Clearly, he allows it, this law blatantly says that. Clearly, it's the big bad insurance company deciding to screw clients. He doesn't want people in those existing plans, he wants them to stop blaming him.

If they actually wanted people to keep their plans, this law is a joke and a waste of time. It's like "allowing" someone to use a seat belt, but no requiring it.

The President came up with a plan, but Congress didn't like it, due to it's voluntary nature and short duration of only 12 months. They're now moving forward with their own bill.

The health insurance CEO's have been summoned to the White House again today. I bet they and the President are getting sick of looking at each other.

How can they not be embarrassed to meet with this dolt again? :embarrassed: He couldn't f* things up more if he tried to.

CEO's should do what silicon valley did and tell him to f**k off.

Yes they should make like they are showing up allow the White House to report about it then hold a Press Confrence right in front of the White House and tell why they had to discontinue those plans and point out if maybe queen Nancy had read the bill she might have realized that people could not keep thier coverage.

I couldn't find much this evening regarding the content of the WH/Insurance CEO meeting today. But I did come across some news articles describing how President Obama and his enforcers used strong-arm Chicago tactics against the Insurance company CEO's on the day that Sebellius testified (Oct 30th) recently.

"Top White House officials have reportedly "pressured" insurance industry executives to keep quiet about Obamacare, according to a new CNN report.
Insurance executives are not exactly fond of President Barack Obama's health care law. And after voicing concerns over the new bill and its disastrous rollout, White House officials allegedly retaliated by informing industry leaders that the administration was not pleased."

As this article goes on to point out, it's not the Individual Market sales that the Insurance companies fear losing.. it's the lucrative government insurance, I.T. and other contracts. I was wondering why the CEO's would drop everything and fly to Washington every time Obama would blow his dog whistle, even though he says at every rally that they're the scum of the earth...right along with insurance agents.

Oh, By the way, check out this clip of insurance CEOs meeting with the President today (11/15). They're smiling like kiddies on Christmas morning while President Obama tells them that in October, "over 1 million people applied" to healthcare.gov, but were deprived from seeing these insurer's "well-priced" plans.

I supposed if they didn't smile, something "unfortunate" could happen.

I suspect the "well priced" plans will have some well priced loss ratio's too. This will become PCIP, the sequel

You know he's getting desperate...willing to try anything! Remember when he wouldn't wear an American flag pin on his lapel?:skeptical: I don't believe a word that comes out of that Kenyan's mouth!

1. The LAW was passed to enforce new min. standards for all healthcare policies.
2. The LAW says --- if you have a policy purchased AFTER 2010 your plan is NOT grandfathered and you MUST purchase a plan that meets min. standards.
3. Now, we decide just 6 short weeks into this LAW that naw never mind keep what you have.. who cares what the LAW says we will just change it as we need to, so we don't make folks mad.
4. Many folks will cry that they are being discriminated against. Because if I currently DO NOT have health insurance I am being told I may HAVE to get the O'Care. Isn't that a punishment for not having insurance? :goofy:
5. Why can my neighbor keep his plan and I am forced to abide by the law?
6. I am poor and could not afford insurance and now you are forcing me to buy on the exchange.. and on and on and on with the uproar over this mess.

Must be nice to change your mind whenever you want and make everyone else scramble. How much is this little change going to COST the industry?

Here is Tennessee's take on the announcement.
Julie Mix McPeak, Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, said the state is still exploring all the implications of the extension, but said it will likely offer the option for insurers.
"The one-year extension of existing plans has major implications for consumers and the health insurance market in Tennessee," McPeak said in a prepared statement. "I believe in providing Tennessee consumers with a variety of insurance options and I support allowing Tennesseans to keep the coverage they were assured they could. While I continue to analyze the multiple effects of yesterday's extension, increasing Tennesseans' options in the evolving health insurance marketplace is a primary goal. Know that we continue to review the President's policy change and are awaiting additional guidance from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to ensure we have all the information needed to implement this order."
BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, the state's largest underwriter of individual plans, said Thursday:
"Since 2010, we've been committed to complying with the health care law. We're continuing to monitor these developments to understand the president's new direction. We'll seek guidance from our state and federal regulators before we can clearly define any actions we may take."

Thanks for letting me vent.
