Starting a Position with Securus FE

...It's a numbers game...
With this brilliant logic (?), if we keep doing the wrong thing that has failed often enough, we can expect a different result?

In case it's not obvious, don't listen to IF.com's resident D-bag below.

The occasional gem he provides never seems to outshine the **** he can crap up for you without solicitation.
Let's see...aren't you trying to make a meager living trying to ram $35 a month burial insurance premiums up the keester of broke-ass, trailer park losers?

Here's some truth bub - anytime you want to compare track records and earnings in the insurance business over the last twenty years - just let me know. I've forgotten far more about this business than you know.

I am thinking, and have been for some time, of getting into the FE market. But, man, Iamnewtothis's experiences sure are discouraging!!

I wasn't calling you out on your accomplishments, M&M. They are to be admired.

I'm sure you've done quite well for yourself and I'll be the first to tell you you've probably made a lot more money than me in his business, and have plenty more experience than I.

...But please don't confuse equating your financial accomplishments as an insurance agents as giving you the right to be an arrogant, un-welcomed, d-bag.

However, I think in some twisted way, I might have just complimented you.

I've probably spent 2 hours plus on the phone with this guy over the past week (I'm on vacation), trying to help where his loser up line has failed. Frankly, I think he needs to fire him and go somewhere else that will give him the real training necessary to be successful.

How about going against your condescending attitude bias and give some constructive criticism for a change?

PS: Also, I think you would agree we need more door-knocking trials before we come to a conclusion whether it's worth doing or not.

Quack, Iamnewtothis's problem is his upline (manager). He's getting NO training. I've been there.

Some one else said to Fire his manager, Amen. Like yesterday.

Quack, if you find the right connection you can make it.

Thanks Rich:) I appreciate the feedback. I am retired from my previous profession, so it does provide a bit of a financial cushion for me, which I think will be benificial when I am first starting out.

Thank you guys for the comments, I am currently in the process of figuring all this out. I have emailed at least 5 different heads at Securus and I have yet to receive any type of response. If I do not get this figured out by Wednesday, I am giving EFES and Travis Tubbs a call. Also, I am not sure if I want to drop any names on my current upline as I do not know what kind of repercussions that may or may not imply, but I would like to say his name so that anyone interested in Securus can steer clear of his agency. So if that is a good idea, someone should tell me so, otherwise I might just keep it to my self. I believe Securus is a good organization and I would love to continue in its missions, but as you can see I am at an extreme disadvantage. My upline has barred all communication with me after I called him and told him straight up what I needed from him. I am not receiving any more invites to the webinars, either. I am kind of running everything in total darkness at the moment. I will update later on my week. Oh, and I only received 10 leads out of 15 this week. I wonder when, if ever, I will receive the 1st 3 weeks of leads that I paid for in advance? :/

Take this as a lesson learned and be glad you got it early in your career.

As for Securus, make sure in the e-mails to the heads you summarized your discussion with your upline and the results of your discussion. Go back and read your contract to see if they are in breach - this will give you leverage. This organization lives and dies by recruiting and churning agents- a bad reputation will begin to cause problems through bad word of mouth.

Oh boy guys, I am going to get in contact with Travis Tubbs tomorrow. I will fill everyone in on the details and provide you with exact emails and responses from Thomas Graziano and whoever else I have contacted in the organization after I figure things out with EFES and disconnect entirely from Securus... what a friggin trip, thanks for the support thus far guys, much appreciated

Not that anyone was truly worried about it, but sorry for leaving those hanging who were interested as well as those who wanted me to get in touch with you. I have contacted Travis Tubbs and Equita and I plan on going with them as my IMO. I attempted to contact Thomas Graziano, Matt Goldberg, Larry Dickstein, and a few others who head their agency in Securus to see if they were able to help me out because in all honesty I had NO idea who to get in touch with about this! I sent this to Thomas and to others, and I *****'d out my upline's name because I don't know if I want to release that information yet:

Thomas,

I need some help Thomas. I have only been running appointments starting this week. I know I am new to the organization, but I am committing to this full time. I wrote an application on my first appointment and I am positive that I am in the right company in the right line of work. However, I need to know who to contact to ask for a transfer within the organization. I contacted ***** my upline today. To say the least, it was a very negative conversation. Throughout the conversation, ******* was extremely condescending towards me. I simply told him I needed to know I could count on him to answer the phone when I am having trouble in appointments. I have attempted calling him so many different times only to have it go straight to voicemail when I am in need of assistance. He will text me sometimes asking me to call him, I call him WITHIN 30 seconds of receiving his texts and he STILL doesn't answer. Sometimes it has taken him hours upon hours and even one or two days to get back to me. If I cannot count on my upline for this at the very least, what good is my upline? I told him I was not happy with the help and assistance I have been receiving and that as a new agent, he should be doing a better job of getting back to me and answering my questions. I told him when I bring questions to him, I feel like he makes me feel like a liability to him and most of the time just brushes me off. I asked him what it was going to take to get a bump in contract when the time comes. He told me I would have to write 25,000 in issue paid premium 2 consecutive months AND recruit 4 people into the organization to get to 80%. YES, 80% from my current 75% level. I told him I was not happy with this and that I was also not happy starting out at 75% after I learned through various medium that I was getting a rather low contract level in comparison to others within the organization. He asked me then, what do you think you should do in order to reach 80%? I said well, I am not trying to settle for 80%, I am looking to reach 90% in a few months and I believe if I wrote 12,000 in issue paid premium 3 months in a row, that I should be at a minimum of 90%. He told me, are you kidding you think 3000 a week is anything special? We got guys who last week did 5000, 3000 is what the average nothing in this company writes. At this point, I can tell the conversation is going no where. Not to mention ****** is telling me I have made mistakes in my life prior to Securus since I contracted Monumental through NAA for about 2 weeks before I ran into the plethora of information online and on forums revealing the true nature of NAA. The man treated me like I was nothing and that I don't even deserve to be there. This is not okay with me. From what I have experienced so far, I know enough to realize that I am going to succeed in this business and that the position I am in now with ****** will offer little help for me to maintain this success long term. PLEASE, help me in any way that you can. I do not want to have to move to another national IMO because I like what Securus is doing, but if I have no other choice, this is my only other option. Let me know as soon as you can, thank you again for taking time out of your schedule for me I appreciate that very much, believe me.

After about 10 days, I received a response from Thomas Graziano. I don't want to copy and paste those chains of emails here because there was nothing wrong with how Thomas Graziano handled my problem, other than that he didn't handle it at all. He seems like a nice and decent guy but I can understand in a way that he has no reason to care about me because I am so new and why should he go through all this trouble for one single agent? I guess...? Anyway, he basically told me to work it out with my upline. So my upline calls me not even 3-5 minutes later, after all the times when its impossible to reach him he finally steps up after he gets called out. The upline acts like nothing is wrong and hes basically asking how's business coming? As if the guy didn't purposefully exclude me from the webinars and cut off contact with me entirely. I told him I am not happy with the current situation and that things have to change for me as I am questioning whether or not I made the right decision coming here. He then actually accuses me of threatening him. Really, guy? So I read him the definition of a threat from an online dictionary and the guy hung up on me. Now this is the last email I sent and after this there was no response.

Thomas,

The way I was treated by ***** is only reparable by another upline. I do not trust this man anymore and up until this this point I have defended Securus as much as possible on the insurance forums. Unfortunately, I am going to have to be straight up and honest with those who have been following my time with Securus. If I am not going to be transferred to an upline that will treat me like a decent human being, provide me with the training and support I need, not talk down on me, and poke fun at my accomplishments and my ambitions, then I must find a company that provides the necessary support to their agents. If that is the final decision, I can no longer continue in this line.

So there you have it.... I am now moving to EFES. I ran appointments this week and wrote them under my Securus contract still as I had leads. No way in hell was I going to let this bring me down and keep me from making the money I need to make. I dropped the suit, got some khakis and a dress shirt and got a sweet deal on some brown kenneth cole's from Macy's. Then today and yesterday, I door knocked, I called over the phone, and I door knocked some more. Overall, I did pretty well considering I only gave my presentation to a few people and even got stood up a few times. I am positive I will have some more business next week from the work I did these past two days, as well, so that is always a plus.

Anyways, the moral of my story is, I don't know really know what the moral of the story is. I don't have anything against Securus; I just got in at the wrong part of the organization. I don't know enough to give a definite recommendation to anyone, but from what I hear, Tim W and Fred Everritt are both good guys and solid picks. And thanks goes out to Reardon, 360, and jdeasy from the forums for helping me out with some cases and pointing me in the right direction.
