The Current State Of ObamaCare - ACA

Can you explain how Obamacrap will lower this figure?

They will save money with the new tort reform laws, ability to buy insurance across state lines and encourage people to purchase HDHP.

Never mind they didn't do any of that but lawyers and special interest groups will do well.

Community rating and EHB eliminates that advantage . . . which never had any real merit before Obamacrap.

I was making the point that the ability to buy a plan in another state which has companies selling outside of the Open Enrollment period would advantageous at this time.

AC you're forgetting a couple of key pieces of information here. One they have to have rates on file and be on that state exchange be it state or fed. Rate are based on claims in a given zip code so it matters not where the Co. Headquarters is.

But if you're suggesting they move all they have to do is move a zipcode away........... sep city doo wah diddy.

It's much easier to hire her than move... Just put her on the books as an employee, wait out the waiting period, and enroll her.

(I presume group insurance, because GreenSky started with "insure a business")

Or they can adopt a child.
Or, you can call the exchange, and insist she wasn't able to enroll due to the exchange's error, and get an exception in writing from them (good luck).

I was saying that IF IF IF purchasing across state lines were legal/allowed, every person in America diagnosed with a grave disease this Spring-Summer-Fall could go to the Blue Cross of Nevada website, and buy a multi-state plan with a 1/x/2014 effective date. Their local hospital might treat it out-of-network, but they'd have coverage. Naturally this would be BAD for the insurer's risk pool. Was just a hypothetical, HouCoogster.

Oh ok gotcha.....AC.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out. Isn't that a new sep they recently added don't recall seeing that on the old list. I really don't agree with this part not to be mean but they should have signed up during OE this just encourages irresponsibility.

Its the first one.

From your CMS document, oh wise HouCoogster. Can you interpret for us? T.I.A.

"Generally, CMS has determined that these special enrollment periods will result in prospective coverage effective dates. For the SEPs addressed here, 45 CFR 155.420(b)(2)(iii) allows for SEP coverage effective dates to be based on either the date of the event that triggered the SEP or the regular prospective effective dates described under 45 CFR 155.420(b)(1), in accordance with guidelines issued by HHS."

Ok here goes nothing....lol
If the event was real serious they will back date the effective date if not too serious the first day of the next month if just kinda trivial serious... effective the first day of the next month if done before by the 15th if after that then the 1st day of the month after next.

How'd I do?
