Tips From Top Producers To Combat Coronavirus Objections

Your agent just doubled his monthly average. Even if he kept the same cancellation rate as he does on the average he will have more than he has had during regular business. If his closing ratio is the same per lead then you can figure as an agent what to expect. If he double his closing ratio I"d be worried.

You will for sure see more cancelations either way. My wife's famous words. "Just saying". You can take the advice or not.
I'm not worried about him at all. Even if he loses 3-5% that's still ridiculous.

It's a lawsuit if you knowingly infect someone. Or they break laws put in place to prevent transmission. PLUS in addition to the plaintiff having to prove the person knew they were contagious but still met anyways, they would also have to prove that person was the source of the transmission

Ex. Person gets tested positive, told to stay on quarantine, but goes out and meets with clients.

Can't sue people if they didn't know they had it if that were the case everyone with coronavirus right now would be in a lawsuit

*a licensed lawyer would be best source of information on this topic

I agree 100 percent. I'm not a lawyer at all. But I've had lawsuits that were not valid. And it still cost me time and money to tell them I couldn't be sued for that.

I imagine you're not worried about it. But an individual producing agent should be on the look out. Any agent that has seen an increase in sales because of the pandemic should save a portion or their advances like unusual to maintain cash flow if they do take a hit.

Better to be safe than sorry. Especially if you have made more.money this month than normal. Better safe than sorry.

I've been pretty straight forward about how I feel about door knocking right now:

I've had people that I've spoken to on Friday and suddenly died on Sunday. I had one guy that committed suicide.

I wouldn't wish that feeling on anyone.

I would feel about 10x worse if I found out that while I was out and caught something, then gave it to someone else who died.

Especially if I could have just adjusted my method of selling and avoided the situation altogether.

Using your thought process I assume you are self quarantined, right? The same logic applies when visiting grocery stores and pharmacies. You are exposing yourself and others. If you are visiting these places you are putting yourself and others at risk already. Going to the store is worse than door knocking. The key is to be smart. You can easily have an appointment in an intelligent manner and with the proper precautions likely not transmit anything by social distancing and using hand sanitizer, etc. Life and business cannot stop. Just be as smart and vigilant as possible.

True...

A bit off topic but I went into Dollar Tree Thursday

tried not to touch too many things, made sure no one got too close to me (and vice versa), rushed out that place as fast as I could, then sanitized my hands after leaving the building

I felt more paranoid doing that with 10+ people in the store at the same time than I did door knocking on a house with 1-2 people

Anyhow when I call my older leads.....I adjusted my 'script' and say I need to meet them....

Meet is vague. So if they agree to meet I ask them do they prefer in person or virtual.

I feel as though this combats the coronavirus objection because it gives them the control over if they want to allow a person to meet them f2f or not.

If I were to do a f2f- like you mentioned I'd recommend outside if the weather is good or inside 6ft away and bring sanitizer (maybe even gloves) along as well.

But as of current - I am doing virtual (for preservation of optimum health and efficiency reasons) and looking into buy a different type of lead source that is open to buying through virtual meetings

So a few things:

1) Yes. I do heavily restrict my interaction with others. In the last 4 days, I have gone to the grocery store 1x in 4 days.

2) There's a difference between going to a grocery once a week, and at least here are asking people to avoid senior times/days, and knocking on people's doors and trying to get into their homes to sell insurance.

If there are people in the grocery store, I can alter my travel path.

When I'm sitting across from a senior I'm generally 4-5 feet away talking to them. Plus your germs linger, even when you leave. That's not social distancing.

Don't be a moron.

If you really see no issue in this while half the country is in lockdown and to use this situation to bring up their own mortality while at the same time putting them in danger, I don't know what to tell you. Definitely says a lot about you as a person.

Just to go by the numbers, half the country is not on lockdown, today 3 of the 50 states are on lockdown, making up a fifth of the population.

I understand that you feel things are bad, but feelings aren't facts. Yes, sometime next week we all might be on lockdown, but that isn't the case today.

281 Americans have died from the coronavirus. On average, 12,000-32,000 Americans die each hear from the seasonal flu. I just want to put those two numbers next to each other. 281 vs 12,000-32,000. On an average day 800 Americans die from diabetes, which is largely preventable. How many people will die because they aren't going out and exercising during the quarantine? How many people will die because they are terrified of the relatively tiny death toll, and won't go out and walk and live a healthy lifestyle?

I read sensational headlines like "morgues are running out of room" and "they are running out of places to put bodies" in Italy. Those are the headlines. It's a country of over 60 million people, with one of the oldest populations on earth, 5,000 died. It's terrible, don't get me wrong. In 2017 roughly 10.4 out of every 1,000 people died in Italy, putting the number around 630,000 deaths. Yes, 5,000 mostly older people, many unhealthy and smokers died recently. Yes, it's awful, don't misunderstand me. But out of 630,000? We really aren't looking at big numbers here.
