Website Please Help Me

I'll give you just an opinion...and PLEASE don't think this is racist:
but the pic of the man on the right is kinda creepy.

He is not nearly as creepy as the guy on the far right here. I took if from the IHIAA site. Look at those eyes and demonic smile. You would let your kid talk with this guy?

I don't see what is creepy about the guy you are talking about:

A good designer will know SEO and will be able to create the site properly.

Not necessarily.

There are some very good code slinger's that don't know squat about SEO. If you can find someone that knows both you have found a real gem.

I have a couple people tell me to pm them for more info. I want more info but can not pm anyone yet because I have not posted enough. Please pm me with information.

There has been tons of good advise posted here. I am going to look at all the options and decide which will work for me. In the mean time I am going to tell web.com they can keep their website.

There is an easy solution.
1. Get a .com domain name that will work. Example affordable-tnhealthinsurance.com TN gets more response than Tennessee
2. Get a reliable, inexpensive 24/7 phone answering webhost like Hostgator or Hostmonster or BlueHost (not go-daddy due to possible compatibility issues)
3. Go to wordpress.net and look at free sites like this one:
WordPress › Free WordPress Themes
(click on image for better view and features)
4. Go to the site Fiverr.com and look under programming. About 15 sources will install for $5 total
5. Adjustments, for $5 a shot just about any dazzling feature you need can be done from there. Also look for adding pre-made features Wordpress has for free.

No more monthly fees. You completely own the site. Every time Wordpress adds upgrade, yours is free.

Good luck, and goodbye headaches.

This theory is good but with Wordpress hosting it for free you can only use the templates they choose, which are not great for a business. To use the other templates you have to use it on your host site. I'm moving things around so I can use the hosting I already pay for (made a newbie mess of it all in the past) and will have to get a domain name or see if I can use the trfinancial.org after I cancel my account with web.com. It inspired me to make some long over due changes. I think I found a theme I like that looks like a website instead of a blog. It has a tab at the top for the blog instead of the front page. It is not a free one but still worth the money if I'm going to do it. It has more potential than the current website. Now I just have to find time to deal with content and SEO. Any advice on SEO for a blog?

trh90: Your domain name is do or die. IDEA that WILL WORK:
state name-products-insurance.com
EXAMPLE: co-lifehealthdental-insurance.com Now THAT is an SEO domain name and very key.

Use an outside host, If you already have one fine, just make sure they have a "cpanel". Now find your Wordpress theme. ALMOST EVERY Wordpress.org theme like the one I mention is free. Learn what the word "extended" means --- your page automatically expands or retracts with the amount of material. NEVER USE FLASH.

DO NOT USE A BLOG! It is virtually impossible to SEO a blog. The reason? Every time you make a post, a whole new set of words get thrown in. That means the keywords keep changing, The only way to do a blog, is to start with a "static blog" of about 500 words. Then have 2 blogs that only initially show the headline, and a word of text.

IF YOU LOOK AT MY EXAMPLE AGAIN, and get logic back --- I will do you a favor.

I will tell you how you can have your (basic) Wordpress website professionally set up in 72 hours for under $10.00 ---not by me or anyone I know. You will have a pick of 8 to 12 different people.

Then get some one with SEO writing ability to do your front page word content. (should be about 400 words). If you think you are a pretty good writer and want to fool around, I will tell you about a free tool to check your SEO word quality and test yourself.

So read this again, one step at a time. You will be saving over $1,000 the first year.

This should help. My email is [email protected] or just make another post.

List your business with Google. If you search "colorado health insurance" you'll see most of the 1st page is local listings. Getting a business listing take 10 minutes and it's free.

THAT COMES 6 MONTHS LATER, a good SEO person can beat local listings, and then show you how to get a 5 star balloon Google listing showing location1.
To do a Google listing for maximum effect takes a very experienced person roughly 30 minutes.

Sorry I am so illiterate. I do appreciate your help.

The example of the theme I see has the dates and feel of a blog. Am I seeing the right thing? What you are saying is what I want. I really don't want to spend time blogging so when you say no blog I'm listening.

Let me give you that same example: I have only starting setting up this site. Just because of the SEO quality of the front page, Google gave it a PR2 --- for one page of content.
Insurance Selling & Insurance Marketing

Now look at that sidebar, yet to be done. Everything I put there, and on the top will appear on all the pages to be added. On the top I want a search box and RSS feed.

For the side bar. I will have an opt-in box.
1.Everyone providing their email and FN, will get a free ebook like, "Think and Grow Rich" --- all set automatically.
2. There will be a logo (using SEO description)
3. A YouTube video (one I make)
4. Navigation to my inner pages
5. Contact Information
6. Another YouTube Video
(one I make)
7. Ad box link to another site of mine
8. Favorite links (keywords to different sites of mine)
9. Organizations I belong too
(list about 12)
10. Some Social Navigation tabs
11. One more YouTube Video

SEE WHY I WANT THE "EXTENDED THEME", with the adjustable page sizes?

That little date tab will be taken off.

Not being a programmer, but knowing where to get the contacts, cost to make it like I want with a knockout header - custom designed. Way under $70.00. You have what are called "widgets", already set, that you just mouse move and click to set up. Pages are unlimited. Text on a page should NEVER be under 200 words.

(my cost to me is also going to include social bookmarking, and 12 to 15 very high quality links, all done for me)

So actually, as this design could have been a blog -- I am making it a regular website. You can do that with many that initially look like blogs. Remove all the extra posts. Have one "static" -- unmovable blog. Then that gets the SEO attention.

I wish I was a programmer. But if you know the right sources, you are looking at a very low cost.

....except the likely bounce rate of a page like that which offers zero real value will be through the roof and you'll end up sitting on page 2,345.

You are violating Google's rules 1 through 20 - which is providing information the user wants. Any attempt to "get over" on this either won't work, or will result in a quick shot up the ranking only for Google to quickly discover "hey...wait, everyone thinks this sucks."

Go ahead and try getting over on your "time on site" and bounce rate.

Bounce rate is more meaningful for retail product sites. Not so much for insurance sites unless all you are doing is hoping for a bunch of quotes.
