Wellcare silver lining...?

We all called it last AEP when WellCare went to $0/month. We knew they were doing it to buy business. And when the PDP market blew up in 2025, they would tell of their clients to go for their other $0 premium plan, a MAPD.

We all said this. I sold it anyways.

But, I don't think anyone knew they would not only take away new commissions but renewals too.
That's what's so nuts.

I agree. I expected the same. They were obviously taking a play out of the aetna playbook. I figured id just load up on them now. Taking away renewals? unheard of prior to this.

And what's to stop taking away renewals on MAPD's?

They profit on MAPD. Why would they? They don't want the PDP biz.
Now, if the govt gets more involved and makes MAPD not profitable, then yes, goodbye renewals.
This. From what I understand, the companies are forced to offer at least a few different PDP plans by the government, if they offer Medicare Advantage plans.

Many of them don't actually want to offer prescription drugs plans…..especially after this year.

They just do because they have to. They only want Medicare Advantage business. Less greedy and more business-ethical companies are okay with offering them.

Companies like WellCare are neither of those things. So they pulled a shady underhanded move to steal our earned wages.

Before the government HEAVILY got involved this year in PDP's, they could actually make somewhat of a profit, and they still can.

Maybe just not as much as they want, but since the government forced a price control, now all the unintended (or intended?) consequences start.

The insurers with actual intelligent executives will still pay commission on PDP's, even after the price control, because they understand that pissing off agents is horrible for your entire business, and it will have major consequences throughout all lines of your business.
