Hopefully we would hate to turn a blind eye to someone getting screwed.
I have made the error of sending paperwork to the original address.

Ut Oh,
Cali is a Comm Property state....any change of beneficiary has to have a spousal signature! This lady is perhaps screwed, which means she could possible cancel (depending on how bad she hates the hubby). WoW, thats a $70+/mo premium....now what do I do??
HELP!!
Does there need a consent on an original application or just a change. If the kid is in town rewrite the policy with them the owner and beneficiary mom pays the premium.
The abuse thing is a pretty sensitive issue - I would tell her there are programs that can help her that are confidential.

I agree! You are an insurance salesman. If you get in this mix at best you could lose the sale and much worse could occur.
Im no longer considering that route...just want to get her a change of bene & be done with it. Problem is, in Calif, change of bene requires hubby's consent. So it sounds like i may lose it anyway if I cant figure out a way to put her son on it!

I was thinking of telling her that....but getting her without hubby around maybe difficult! Plus son doesnt live with them, so he would have to be there too....Im not sure what to do.
Most likely, she will say honey sign here, he won't read it.
