Where to Hold a Stupid One Hour Seminar?!

Hope you weren't counting on a free breakfast on Thursday...

The Denny's free feed-up was today, Tuesday.

A great day for the elderly, unemployed, and anyone else who's got the time to wait in line for two hours for a five dollar breakfast.

'A bold move': Denny's invites America for a free breakfast - USATODAY.com

It was disinformation. I figured if I could shorten the lines by misquoting the day of the week... it didn't work very well, the lines we long according to the news. ;)

This was a pretty good marketing strategy. Why spend millions on ads that nobody listens to. Give free samples, get people to come to your business and get free advertising from all the media.

Thanks for the ideas everybody. I wasn't planning on many attending because nobody likes to address issues of their last years on Earth. I don't blame them, but it has to be discussed of course. I didn't have any specific criteria, I just want to talk: I'm good at it because I'm a musician and love crowds. I don't really care how many people attend either, I just want to talk about LTC and give people choices. It's not even a seminar with a sales pitch. I'm essentially selling myself as you all know. And most of you are correct: not many people will pay to listen to a sales call. I like the coffee house idea and art gallery too. I was simply going to advertise two times in the local paper and maybe pass out flyers for people to come and "listen to the benefits of having Long Term Care..." etc. No big deal, no big expectations, just simply sell myself to anyone who's willing to listen. I'll keep you posted.

Man I'm hungover. I can't drink the way I used to.

No, not handing any fliers out. Besides it's 10 degrees outside. I have the luxury of working out of my house so I can get drunk on a weeknight. I love my Smirnoff but hate the headache.

Apparently one waitress "earned" $20 during a 6 hour shift. Nice customers. Breakfast was "free" and you didn't have to tip? What a bunch of losers!

Yeah, you ain't kiddin. Free breakfast, no tip. Sounds like someone we all know. They wouldn't give you a cup of water if you dying of thirst unless there was something in it for them.

Not intending to offend, but Denny's is not known for quality food or clientele. I expect 'Free' brought out some of the worse, and I can't imagine the waitresses had high expectations.

Honestly, I would not wait in line for bad food, even if it was 'Free'. Decent honest people would have tipped better than normal. Many folks who line up and wait for free food may be lacking the decent and honest genes.

I don't think the ad they ran during the Super Bowl or the full-pager in USA Today were free...

Denny's apparently got some great marketing leverage among the following groups:

- low income elderly
- unemployed
- broke college students

Good luck turning that into sales.

Oh yeah, I forgot those ads. I saw lots of free ads in the articles and blogs I read.

I talked to one waitress that works at Denny's beforehand and she had very low expectations...perhaps many of the wait staff had less than positive attitudes going in on Tuesday ?
